How did you meet and get engaged?

We met in a restaurant in Amsterdam, where we had dinner with some mutual friends. We were sitting next to each other and had this instant connection. After dinner, Rogier wanted to leave the restaurant without asking my phone number. Of course, I couldn’t let this happen and I asked him to join me for an after-dinner cocktail in a bar close to the restaurant. Since then there hasn’t been a day that we haven’t spoken to each other.

Describe your wedding:

We had a great wedding planner who advised us on the decoration. We just chose a lot of flowers and a romantic setting. Also, live music was very important for the overall ambiance. We had a double string quartet during the ceremony, a traditional Portuguese Fado singer during the cocktail reception and a pianist during dinner. We didn’t want the pianist to play on a portable keyboard, so we rented a grand piano. It was quite a hassle to get it in the garden, but it looked great.

Tell us about your bridal look:

I started to look for inspiration on Instagram and soon fell in love with the Galia Lahav brand. First I went to a big bridal store, where I fitted 5 dresses but didn’t get the right ‘wow’ feeling. A few weeks later, I went to Bloomfeld Luxury Bridal in Amsterdam. As soon as I tried on the Gala 708 dress I knew this was the perfect dress. My mom and mother in law immediately started to cry when they saw me in this dress. We all just knew that this was the perfect dress and it would be impossible to find a dress that could beat this one.

My make up was done by one of my best friends, Boris Itzkovich Escobar, who is a great makeup artist. He always knows how to make me look my best.

What did your bridesmaids wear?

I didn’t have bridesmaids. However, our daughters Anaïs (8) en Lisa (1) were the cutest flower girls ever. I wanted them to wear the same white dress, but because of the large difference in sizes, it felt impossible to find the right dresses for the girls. In the end, I bought two dresses from Mayoral in size 8, and found a tailor who was able to reduce one of these dresses to size 1. They both looked adorable!

Tell us about your wedding venue:

We found the perfect location in Pine Cliffs Resort in Olhos de Agua. We had our wedding ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner in the beautiful Tabu garden on top of a cliff.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?

The moment I walked down the aisle and saw Rogier and our family and friends. It’s just very special to have all the people you love around you at such a beautiful location.

Have you got any advice for other couples?

Don’t stress, just relax and enjoy the preparations. You’ll miss it! 😉
