The crop top wedding dress was pitched to be one of the biggest bridal trends last year, but while some fashion-forward brides embraced a variety of two piece wedding dresses and sensational bridal separates, we didn’t see as many daring to bare with a cut out crop top. Not taking it lying down, designers and bloggers are pushing the trend again for 2015, seeking out chic and confident brides-to-be and showing them just how classy the uber cool crop top can be in bridal. While last year was all about harking back to the slick, minimal style of the 90s with simple silhouettes and silk fabrics, 2015 looks are far more romantic and feminine with laces, long sleeves and high necks utilised to balance out the bare midriff to perfection. It’s interesting to note that cut outs have gotten smaller too – designers are shying away from the boldly bared full waist and are instead opting to pair pretty high-waisted skirts with light, loose crop tops to allow for just a flash of flesh.

The crop top wedding dress is by far one of the more difficult bridal trends to embrace, and requires a truly unique, style and body-confident bride to pull it off without a hitch. Of course the two piece doesn’t necessarily have to be the gown you walk up the aisle in – many of these gorgeous separates would be perfect as reception or even day after dresses. The informal, no-fuss crop top wedding dress is ideal for beach or destination weddings, where brides want to go for something a little less traditional and super light and comfortable (we can’t recommend Aussie label Grace Loves Lace more for these brides). These styles are also perfect engagement party gowns, or reception party gowns for a bride who eloped to get married.
