Keep your end goal in mind
Always remember that hosting an amazing wedding isn’t the end goal. The actual end goal is getting married to the love of your life. If that’s what happened on your wedding day, then consider it a success! The next chapter is all about building a marriage that far outshines your wedding day.
Do “normal” things
While you’re planning your wedding, set aside time to do those “normal” things. Date nights with your Other Half, coffee dates with friends (that don’t include wedding talk) and allowing yourself some time for hobbies and activities. It’s a lot easier to slip into post-wedding mode when your pre-wedding mode wasn’t totally taken over by the wedding. Try your best not to pause normal life just because you’re planning a wedding.
Give yourself something to look forward to
This will look different for everyone, but here are some ideas:
- Your honeymoon – not everybody wants to go away right away! Plan yours for a month or two after the wedding and you’ve got a fabulous holiday to look forward to!
- A new home – for couples who don’t live together before the Big Day, you’ve got a new home to build together. Save the home decorating for after your wedding and there’s a whole lot to look forward to.
- A fun friend activity – book in a couple of friend dates with your besties. This could be taking your Maid of Honour to dinner as a thank you for looking after you throughout wedding planning.
- Something tasty you want to cook – if you’re into cooking, find a beautiful recipe to save and try together once you’re married.
Find ways to relive your Big Day
Once your wedding photos and video are in, set a date with your family to relive your memories together! This is exactly what we did and it was amazing. A month or so after our wedding day, we had our parents over and put all our wedding photos on our TV and looked through them together while we had tea and cake. Then once we got our wedding video, we did it all again! Your nearest and dearest won’t get sick of it!
