Wedding Guest Book Alternatives

For some couples, a guest book can seem like an outdated relic.  Sure, it’s nice to have the best wishes of your friends and family, but the book might just end up on a shelf somewhere in your home gathering dust.  So how can you have the best of both worlds good wishes and something that you’ll treasure forever?  Check out these finds from the world of guest book alternatives!

Guest Book Fingerprint Tree

Fingerprint trees are usually a large tree drawn on an A2 or A1 size sheet of paper, but without any leaves.  They often come with inkpads (or you can buy your own), and guests create leaves for the tree by leaving their fingerprint on a branch, and signing their name beside it.  After the wedding, the fingerprint tree can be framed and hung as a piece of art in your home, and a beautiful reminder of your special day.

The Guest Puzzle

Definitely one of the more unique guest book alternatives out there, a guest puzzle can be custom made from wood or cardboard to include your names and wedding date.  Guests can sign and leave messages on the back of each puzzle piece, leaving you with a memorable heirloom that you can frame and hang in your home!

The Guest Book Photo Frame

A very popular choice as a guest book alternative is the photo frame.  Guests sign their best wishes on a large photo frame, and the couple can use it to frame their favourite photo from the big day.  That way all your guests’ best wishes surround the both of you.

The Polaroid Guest Book

This is the classic guest book, but with a twist.  You’ll need to find a Polaroid camera, and leave it on the guest book table along with some colourful pens and a book.  Each guest (or couple or family) takes a Polaroid of themselves, and sticks it into the book, writing their best wishes and congratulations beside their photo.  It’s a lovely keepsake, with the added bonus of being able to see all your friends and family as they were on your special day.

The Sky’s the Limit!

Nowadays couples ask their guests to sign anything from bits of material (to be made in to a quilt after the wedding), to guitars or vinyl records, to stones, which can be signed and placed in a clear vase in your home.
