Jess and Jeremy’s intimate wedding set on a remote hilltop in Queensland, Australia was absolute textbook elegance. The couple pared back their decor to let the stunning and luxurious Spicers Peak Lodge and its vast green surroundings take center stage at their classic and timeless wedding celebration. “We let the venue speak for itself,” says Jess, “…it was our venue that created the elegant atmosphere we were after.”

Where it began
The couple met at the gym before dating, and after Jeremy returned home after a four month overseas deployment they made it truly official. “Jeremy surprised me with a holiday at Binna Burra,” Jess recalls, “He took me for a hike to a lookout and clearing over a mountain stream, and proposed on the rock ledge in front of the stunning view.” The couple celebrated after with Champagne and a delicious dinner at a beautiful mountaintop restaurant.
The Day
When it came to the day itself the couple wanted it to be three things – classic, timeless and elegant.
And Jess’s dress was just that.
She purchased her gown – with a stunning illusion neckline, beautiful lace detailing and a soft chiffon skirt – in Belladonna Bridal in Brisbane. “I was looking for really beautiful and intricate classic detailing but still wanted something I could dance and party in and feel comfortable in all day,” she said.

We could definitely see ourselves getting comfy in the stunning Spicers Lodge – how dreamy are those beams?! (And that groom?!)
The couple were happy to splurge on their venue, their amazing photographer and the bride and bridesmaids’ dresses. One of the best things they felt they did for the celebration however was to pay for their guests’ accommodation so that everyone could stay together in the fabulous lodge, and celebrate the next morning again at breakfast! “After all,” said Jess, “they are some of the most important parts. And we saved on transport, with the ceremony and reception at the same place!”
There are no regrets from the day, however Jess does admit to wanting to change one little thing that happened. “Remembering to take my engagement ring off before the ceremony! I completely forgot and had to quickly take it off and put it on the other hand.”
When it comes to advice for other brides, Jess has this piece of advice. “Keep your perspective centered. A wedding is just one day, and things do go wrong; embrace it. The weather on our day was absolutely crazy but as a result, some of our best photos are swirled in fog and rain!”
Favourite Moment
“We played the shoe game and cried with laughter. The crazy weather was also memorable. We had sun, rain, storms and fog. It made the view even more incredible and cosy inside.”
