There’s a whole heap of style in today’s real wedding, which comes courtesy of the fabulous husband and wife duo, Blackbox Photography. Oh, and be warned – it’s highly likely that you’re going to fall in love with Sarah’s short vintage wedding dress!
Sarah and Paul’s was a high school romance that blossomed over MSN Messenger, included a first date at Pizza Hut (where Paul made Sarah pay for her own!) and a traditional request by Paul to her father, for her hand in marriage.
“Paul was so excited when my dad said yes he ran out to me as soon as I arrived home from work to ask if I’d like to go ring shopping! I assumed after the ring picking he would then have a romantic proposal but instead he hid it in my house and made me spend what seemed like half an hour trying to find it, providing me with the ‘you’re hot…no you’re cold’ kind of clues. I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way though, it was so typical Paul and I loved it.”
Sarah and Paul first thought of getting married abroad, but soon scrapped that idea when they realised they really wanted all their family and friends to enjoy their day as well, so home turf it was to be and they ended up going no further than ten miles away to Galgorm Resort and Spa.
“After winning an overnight stay at Galgorm Resort and Spa in November 2011, we decided to have a look at their wedding suites. It was an instant decision. As soon as we saw the Four Seasons suite, we knew it was the perfect place for us to spend our wedding day.”
With the venue chosen, Sarah and Paul slipped into relaxed wedding planning mode choosing not to have a specific theme for their day, but incorporate the individual things they both love. The couple chose suppliers who they felt cared for their special day and whose work they admired. Choosing a mid-week wedding meant they found booking their favourite suppliers was pretty easy.
Sarah’s dress was expertly sourced by Dorothy and Michelle at Logans Bridal in Cloughmills;
“I always knew that I wanted to go for a short wedding dress but it was quite difficult to source. Dorothy from Logans Bridal had been to a fashion show, and when I described what I was looking for she dashed for her phone and showed me a picture of a dress she had seen. I knew immediately that it was the one and they couldn’t have been more helpful in sourcing it for me.”
Couple’s Highlights:
“The highlight of our day was definitely the church; I walked down the aisle to Lisaire String Quartet playing ‘Marry Me’ by Train. It was a truly magical moment having all the people we cared about in the one place just for us. We knew from the beginning that what we had was going to last forever and getting married was such a great step in our journey together. The realization it was actually happening was so intense that we both spent a lot of the time biting back happy tears. Nothing will ever top that moment for me. We had the most amazing wedding day and honeymoon. We wouldn’t change a thing. The most exciting thing is we are now expecting our first little addition to the family in April!”
Advice for other couples:
There is no rule book for your wedding. Always remember that it’s your day and as long as you are married at the end of it, everything is perfect.
