Inspiration

Refining your wedding look will take time, with every element having to perfectly complement each other. Taking into account you want your dress to be the shining star, everything else has to be just right and not too bold as to outshine it.

Bridal Hair Style Trends

When it comes to wedding hair, we say it’s never too early to start discovering your options. Your wedding dress will play a big part in dictating what type of style you should go for; a intricate gown will look best with an elegant and sleek do, whilst a minimal gown will thank an intricate hair do. It’s all about finding the perfect balance.

We’ve taken a look at what’s top of the crops at the minute…

Aiming High

The top knot is bang on trend in the real, everyday world at the minute and this too can work for your wedding day, just ask for a polished top knot and smile as your guests swoon at the cheekbones it has helped highlight! Whilst the top knot looks amazing left undressed, you can add some bling with diamante pins or attach your veil to the bottom of the knot.

I love the sleek glamour of this sweeping top knot.

Going Low

A classic and elegant look, a low bun or chignon will work with many dress styles and wedding themes. It is easier to carry than a top knot, yet looks just as stylish. Make sure it is off set to either side of your neck, where it looks best. You can add so many different hair pieces to a low chignon including fresh flowers, vintage brooches, really whatever works with your look.

Go Go Glamour

Channel your inner Hollywood goddess and go for glamourous, no nonsense hair! Forget hair accessories, just let your hair do the talking. To get away with this look make sure your hair is in tip top condition, maybe with a few discreet extensions for volume…

Boho Babe

Perfect for a laidback beach wedding, think Kate Moss, Sienna Millar with a touch of delicate accessories for a bohemian look. Wearing your hair in a centre parting will give it a true boho feel. This is one look you could recreate on your wedding day, with a bit of practise of course! Team with a Jenny Packham dress, rustic hedgerow bouquet and you’ll rock!

A boho up-do lies on just the right side of messy!

One Sided

Classic over the shoulder styles continue to be big news and works well with a strapless
gown.

Big on Detail

You can’t beat a really well styled up-do! If your wedding gown is very plain at the back an intricate style can do wonders for your back view, just make sure you have every faith in your stylist.

Retro Rebel

Think of the stunning hair styles of the ladies of yesteryear and go for a quirky and retro style. You will ooze elegance and coupled with a pill box veil will be channeling Jackie O!

Nobody does retro glam quite like Dita Von Teese these days…

Quick fire tips

– Choose your hair stylist wisely, just because your regular hairdresser is an awesome cutter, doesn’t guarantee they will be as amazing at bridal up styles.

– Bring any hair pieces or accessories with you to your trial, as well as a picture or good description of your wedding gown. Your stylist will have the perfect tools to sculpt your hair into a flattering do that works with your gown and accessories.

– If you are having your hair put up, wash it the day before the wedding. Freshly washed hair is too clean to contort into an up-style with stamina!

– Make sure you are happy with your trial, don’t wait until your wedding day to speak up!
