The bridal trend report is in! With wedding dresses, there are always a handful of styles that come out tops and this year sees short, romantic and minimalist dresses running the show. We’ve collected a gallery of gorgeous gowns, all available on Irish shores, that fit the bill.

First up, it’s minimalist. Minimalism is all about showcasing shape and skipping adornments. Clean lines, structured edging and colour blocks make up a minimalist dress. Full skirts aren’t typical of the trend but 2014 sees an effort by designers to combine classic modern, sleek accents. It’s a trend that brides who want to flaunt their figures should consider, as most fabrics are lightweight and form-fitting. Scroll on to see.

Romantic gowns are all about ethereal fabrics, blush tones and fairy-tale silhouettes. The bare bones of a romantic dress will be flowing, floor grazing and finished with a lace overlay. Appliqués come in entire fields of roses, especially from the soft-pink family. The trend has its roots in Gatsby glamour, so pearls, jewels and feathers won’t be in short supply. It’s a little bit vintage, very elegant and perfect for spring weddings.

Tea-length dresses are making waves in bridal fashion, and above-the-knee frocks are coming in on their tails.  Innately less formal than traditional gowns, this season’s shorter dresses feature lots of cutesy detailing – think bows, oversized ribbons and skirts with buckets of body. It’s a universally flattering style, but we love how it looks best on petite brides. If you’re worried about being swamped in fabric, a cropped dress should definitely be on your list of looks to try.
