DIY Pew End

Pew ends are pretty and a great way of injecting a little extra personal touch to your ceremony. Of course, pew ends are also very versatile and can be reused at your reception as dainty table centres or dotted around your reception suite.

Now, here at Mrs2Be HQ we like to think that we’re down with word on the street! And we know for a fact, you are all big lovers of doing things yourself, both to save a few euro and to show off your creative flair throughout the big day. Today we have a step by step guide to create your own DIY pew ends from tin cans, and it really couldn’t be any easier!

You will need:

  • Empty Heinz baked beans tins – they’re the shiniest.
  • Ribbon in your choice of colour
  • Double sided sticky tape
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Bunch of Gypsophila or your bloom of choice

Step One

Remove the label from the tin and wash out with soapy water. Cut 25cm of ribbon. Place double side tape at either end and the middle of the ribbon. Place the ribbon around the middle of the tin, pressing on the tape to hold in place.

Step Two

To make the bow for the centre piece, cut 19cm of ribbon. Place double sided tape on each side of the ribbon. Fold in both sides of the ribbon, pressing down on the tape to create the bow.

Step Three

Cut 6 cm of ribbon, placing double side tape at one end. Loop this around the centre of the bow and stick where the ribbon meets at the back of the bow. Add two pieces of double sided tape to the back of the bow and stick it to the middle of the ribbon on the tin.

Step Four

Cut a length of ribbon. For your handle it’s best to measure a length which will suit your pew. Place double side tape at either end of the ribbon. Stick each side to the inside of the tin to form your handle.

Step Five

Place your flowers in the tin, making sure they’re not too tall. Ideally you want the blooms to start at the opening of the tin.

Et voila! Pretty, rustic, elegant pew ends! With thanks to Inspire Weddings Magazine for use of their step by step images.
