We’re just about to get your Monday off to a very glamorous start! Today we are sharing the incredible wedding of bridal hair stylist, Kay and her husband Shane who married in their local parish in Crossmaglen followed by their reception in Cabra Castle, Kingscourt. Their day was captured beautifully by Annette and Sean from 4Ever Photos who are based just outside Belfast.
“Shane and I met at my sisters leaving party in our local pub. She was heading to Australia with her partner and they introduced us,” explained Kay. “When he asked me to move in with him later in the relationship I knew it was for life, we always got on the best and I knew Shane was different.”
The couple got engaged in New York during a holiday there to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in 2016. “We had just arrived and I was getting ready to go out to meet friends from home. I came out of the bathroom and Shane was on one knee in the middle of the hotel bedroom! I didn’t expect it at all and was totally stuck for words. It was a great start to our holiday and both of us will always remember that trip forever,” added Kay.
On their return home Kay got down to business with planning their perfect wedding day. As a freelance bridal hair stylist working in the area she had a number of wedding suppliers in mind for her own day and after the initial big choices their date was set for June 9th, 2018.
“We chose Cabra Castle because it was such a magical place and we both knew that it would be our wedding venue from the moment we saw it. We couldn’t recommend it enough to any future couples, they were amazing,” said Kay.
With an overall elegant look with glamorous touches, Kay chose rose gold sequin dresses for her bridesmaids which worked seamlessly with her own stunning lace gown, whilst Shane chose navy tuxedos with black lapels. “I had heard great things about McElhinney’s Bridal Rooms so myself, Mommy, Shane’s Mom and my bridesmaids had made the trip down and stayed in Harvey’s Point the night before my appointment. It was a lovely thing to do with all of them. At the appointment we were greeted by Caroline and Mary, both girls were so lovely and I couldn’t recommend them enough. I always wanted lace with an off the shoulder neckline so it wasn’t going to be hard! I tried 10 dresses on and after that I went for the last dress. I knew when I had it on it was just me and it was perfect. I had a great experience with McElhinney’s and couldn’t recommend them enough,” said Kay.
“The day was amazing, the quickest day ever! At one stage myself and Shane were sitting at the top table and couldn’t believe it was 8pm. It really is the best day of your life and we will have the memories to cherish forever,” said Kay.
“The highlight of the day for both of us was seeing each other at the top of the altar. It was such a surreal feeling to think we both got this far! Little did we know 7 years ago that meeting in the local pub would bring us to were we are today,” added Kay.
