Good morning, as Spring is officially in the air we thought now would be the right time so share some hot Australian sun on the blog! Yes, as we were preparing for a Christmas of blizzards and hundreds of layers, our bride and groom Aisling and Tristan were tying the knot in most certainly, hotter circumstances! Thanks to photographer Ben Clark for sharing this gorgeous day with us, complete with a reception at the world famous Palazzo Versace.
Aisling who is originally from Oldtown, County Dublin met Australian, Tristan whilst she was working in an Irish bar in Surfers Paradise.
“I was Tristan’s barmaid for the night. He was in Fiddlers Green with his friends to celebrate his friend hitting a hole in one. He made a pretty big impression on me and before I even knew his name, I knew I would marry him!” explained Aisling.
Tristan planned a beautiful romantic proposal;
“Tristan took me to The Castle on Mount Tamborine, it’s a beautiful private hotel. We went for dinner and when we got back to our suite there were rose petals and candles all over the floor and on the tables. In the middle of the table was a bottle of champagne and when I turned around he was on bent knew. It was one of the best days of my life,” said Aisling.
Soon after their engagement the couple knew the exact location for their ceremony, St. Alban’s Chapel at TSS Southport, on the Gold Coast. As Tristan had went to school at TSS, it held special memories for him.
“As for the hotel that was another easy decision. We have always had a special place in our hearts for The Versace, it’s somewhere we have always gone to celebrate, it also helps that the hotel is magnificent,” added Aisling.
Aisling chose a dress in Australia and sourced it back to a bridal boutique in Ireland where she brought her mum to view it.
“When I arrived at Kathy De Stafford’s Bridal salon in Exchequer Street, Dublin I had my sights set on the Pronovias dress I picked in Australia. But after taking one look at her own designs I decided to try some on and I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and originality of her designs. Needless to say I ended up buying one of Katy De Stafford’s dresses and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The dress screamed 1920’s glamour which is what we based the rest of the day around,” said Aisling.
“It was the most amazing day of our lives, from the moment we got up until the second our heads hit the pillow we smiled and laughed. We were so lucky to have so many incredible people around us to celebrate our day with, we felt incredibly loved. There were so many funny moments, from Will one of our groomsmen trying to “help” our photographer get some interesting shots to Stuart my brother and MC creating havoc and giving us huge belly laughs. The day was a huge highlight but walking into our reception room and seeing everyone we love so happy, was very special,” explained Aisling.
