When you think of Halloween the usual suspects come to mind like ghosts and goblins and spooky surprises. For bride Siobhan Reilly, and groom, Simon Dolphin, this meant a pompom pumpkin at each place setting but they didn’t let the holiday take over their big day. The result was a totally one of a kind wedding.
Siobhan and Simon met on a night out through mutual friends and got along instantly. After dating for 5 years, Simon proposed on their trip to Chicago in their hotel room after they visited a skyscraper downtown. Siobhan says she is so relieved he waited until they were alone as she would have been totally embarrassed otherwise. I’m sure Simon was delighted he got that right!

Siobhan said her favourite memory of the day was, “Having a nice relaxing morning with my bridesmaids and Mam, getting ready in the house and then walking down the aisle to meet Simon at the top. It was nerve-racking but a lovely moment too.”
She and her bridesmaids handmade their bouquets with brooches and buttons and the outcome is truly stunning and whimsical. Peonies and roses are great wedding classics but you can’t beat a DIY project with the girls, especially one so cute.
Siobhan and Simon were married in the gorgeous Kimmage Manor Church. Exiting the church under the guard of honour of hockey sticks and hurls held up by their guests was a special moment for the couple, especially Simon. Incorporating activities like this is a fun way to make a traditional church wedding in Ireland your own. It also makes for a fab photo and memory for the mantlepiece!
It’s no surprise that the reception was full of TONS of props, handmade crafts and games. As event-planning is part or Siobhan’s job she really enjoyed organising and creating a unique day for all her guests. The highlight of this wedding has to be the creativity involved in the decor. She had everything down to a T. Hats off to Siobhan!
“The theme of the day was to have fun and for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. We left lots of little games on all of the reception tables for our guests to have fun with during the day and night. We wanted to make the wedding personal so we had things about us and who we are.”
How fab are the cake toppers, themed sweet cart and the colouring-in guest book?
After the dinner and speeches the happy couple and their guests had a blast dancing the night away. They didn’t want the night to end and I don’t blame them!
Siobhan’s advice for brides to be:
“Just enjoy all of the planning and the lead up to the big day. The anticipation and lead up to the wedding day is really exciting! Try and add some personal things about the two of you into the wedding if you can. I think it does add something special to the day. Make some brilliant memories!”
