Today’s wedding is all about the love and the dress. Oh my, how we have fallen hard for this Alice Temperley gown! With the talent of Emily Doran behind the camera, Ciara and Georges’ wedding is a sight to behold.
Bride, Ciara Kelly met her husband, George O’Brien nine years ago during a weekend in Swansea.
“My friend Caragh was in college over there, house sharing with George’s friend Sean. One weekend in November my girlfriends and I went to visit Caragh, and George and his friends went to visit Sean. We met on the first night. George took my number and the rest is history as they say!”
George proposed to Ciara in Seville, Spain in September 2012.
“I went to college in Seville and fell in love with the city whilst there, so we went back to visit. George got down on one knee in front of the cathedral in the centre of the city and I said ‘I do!’”
Planning their wedding was pretty straight forward, as Ciara worked in the event management industry at the time.
“We both knew what we wanted; we’re both easy going people and there was no fuss.”
When it came to choosing her wedding dress however, Ciara found this the most difficult part of the planning.
“I trawled the country and then went to Spain. I couldn’t find a dress that I liked until my sister spotted a dress in a boutique in London, made me try it on and I fell in love. It was an Alice Temperley lace and silk gown. It fit like a glove and I instantly knew it was the one for me when I looked in the mirror.”
The day had a subtle hint of vintage, with soft pink and ivory accents, loosely flowing ‘twobirds’ bridesmaids’ dresses and elegant chignons all round.
Highlight of the day:
“The day was perfect! Everything went off to perfection, and if it didn’t we didn’t notice, as we were too busy enjoying ourselves. All the suppliers, family and friends involved were so lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us. The highlight of my day was seeing all of our family and friends come together especially for us, seeing all our hard work pay off and of course, seeing George for the first time that day.”
Bride’s advice for other couples:
“Don’t get stressed out, go over the top or obsess! Keep it simple and enjoy the planning process. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype. Don’t take heed of others and remember this is your day. You only get it once, so enjoy it and relish it.”
