We have got the gorgeous wedding of Charlotte and Ronan Meaney today who were married in a Humanist ceremony at Rathsallagh House. Their adorable daughter Sofia was the star of the show, as we think you’ll agree! Photographer Niall Scully was on hand during the day to catch all the pretty detail.
“Ronan and I first met when I was 16, he was at college with my brother in Kerry, I fell head over heels for him! I loved Saturday night as Ronan would call in to the house and my mum would drop the boys to Heuston station to get the train down to Kerry, but Ronan soon stopped doing this course and I stopped seeing him. We didn’t meet again until 2003 when Ronan joined a gym I was working at. I didn’t recognise him, but he recognised me although it took another four years until we had our first date!” Explained Charlotte. Five years later on Christmas Eve Ronan proposed to Charlotte on Vicor Road overlooking the sea, a spot that Charlotte loves.
As soon as they became engaged Charlotte began planning their wedding. Her friend Alison runs a wedding planning website Weddings To You, a service that covers everything from bridal attire, stationery, flowers and even cake designers. With her help Charlotte was able to plan their dream day with ease. Instead of choosing a specific theme the couple chose elements that they loved, including the beautiful Rathsallagh House Hotel in Dunlavin.
“Our wedding day was the most amazing day of our lives, except the day our daughter Sofia was born! I wore a white wedding dress from The Town Bride, it was the first dress I tried on. I knew straight away this was the dress for me as it fitted me like a glove. I did go and try on more but I knew the first dress was mine. I was thrilled!” said Charlotte. “The sun shone all day long so Ronan got to do his speech outside in the sun during the Champagne reception. It was lovely. The sun makes everyone happy and so do weddings so we were doubly blessed.”
Highlight of the day
Ronan: “Seeing our daughter Sofia walking up the isle and doing my speech outside were both highlights.”
Charlotte: “Everything from walking down the aisle to Ronan’s amazing speech, my own speech which I had been very nervous about, to just seeing all our family and friends everyone together.”
