Caroline and John Paul ended up with the stormiest, wet weather on their Big Day -after a morning of blazing sunshine- but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of their relaxed September wedding at Bellingham Castle. Thanks to Mark Doyle Photography for sharing their special day with us.
Credit risk analyst, Caroline met fleet manager, John Paul many years ago through mutual friends.
After getting engaged during a weekend at Powerscourt the couple took a relaxed approach to planning their wedding day and chose Bellingham Castle as their reception. “For us it was all about the reception venue, we built our day around that. The whole lead up to it was very relaxed. The venue and food were most important to us so it is what we spent the most on,” explained Caroline.
We adore the quirky vintage Mercedes that John Paul travelled in!
Caroline’s beautiful wedding gown was from My Fair Lady in Monaghan. The cap sleeve gown featured a delicately beaded bodice and A line skirt. Her two bridesmaids wore modern one shoulder dresses in a vibrant shade of lilac, and the scheme was complemented with pale pink and lemon floral bouquets.
“Everything went perfect. One funny incident was when John Paul rang me on the morning of the wedding looking for his suit trousers. Needless to say they were in the room where he left them! I think the stress was starting to get to him,” remembered Caroline.
Finally after a couple of hours of torrential rain, Caroline and Joh Paul were able to have some bridal portraits taken outside!
Caroline added horse shoes to their table numbers to personalise the day. She chose horse shoes as she has a love for horses.
