Today’s wedding will leave you with a warm heart as it’s packed full of pretty details thanks to the bride’s impeccable eye and the designer tranquility of Solis Lough Eske Castle. Photography on the day was by Paula O’Hara and to make this wedding even more special, thanks to Paula’s brother, Michael Toman from Story of Eve, we’ve also got a preview of Rachael and Richard’s wedding video. Get your tissues ready!
Designer and owner of Little Deets Designer Wedding Stationery, Rachael Keys from Trillick, County Fermanagh knew of Richard Lecky, from Castlederg from seeing him out and about during nights out in Omagh, but it wasn’t until they were both living in Belfast when Richard asked her round for dinner.
“Richard says he thinks our eyes met over everyone else’s heads, he’s 6’5″ and I’m 6′ in my flats! Pretty quickly there was definitely an attraction and we had great chemistry. We knew it was more serious than previous relationships we had both had.”
The couple got engaged whist on holiday in Crete in June 2012, as Rachael explains:
“We went on a road trip to Elounda, Plata and Spinalonga. Rich wanted to visit a secret beach the hotel manager had been telling him about, but it soon became clear as we winded up the mountain, passing through quaint little villages with no petrol stations, that our little hired Clio didn’t have the fuel to get us there and back! Just as the coastline view was starting to open up and stretch, we came across a stone gazebo, built to take in the view. We got out to take some pictures before Richard surprised me by proposing to me. On the way back we had to freewheel our little Clio about 10 miles down the hills back to Elounda for petrol, never getting to see our secret beach!”
“We had just under a year from when we got engaged until we got married to plan it all. We were buying a house also in this time so Rich was on house planning and I was on wedding planning, although I couldn’t have planned it all without the help of my mum and sisters. The toughest part ended up being finding shoes which weren’t too high!”
On the morning of their wedding, Rachael and Richs’ planning came to a stunning climax and resulted in a jaw-dropping wedding day full of love, laughter and relaxed elegance. The bride wore a breathtaking Sanyukta Shrestha Evelyn gown, whilst the groom wore Hugo Boss. The stationery was all kinds of fabulous, the flowers were sweet and simple posies of roses, and in general joy radiated from Solis Lough Eske.
