Music Be The Food Of Love…. Moira and Ciarán’s Music Inspired Wedding Day

Inspiration

When a whole lot of love, fun and family spirit has been added to a wedding, this is the result! Moira and Ciarán’s big day was full of just that plus lots of music and laughter.

Their passion for music lead provided the perfect theme for their celebrations. Shot beautifully by the talented  Leanne Keaney Photography, the day really is a mix of everything that makes the perfect wedding.

Moira and Ciarán first met during a night out in Dublin in March 2009. Three years on Ciarán planned a fabulous surprise proposal in February 2012.

Ciarán had arranged for me to have the following Monday off work and on the Friday night I decided to go out last minute, not knowing what was in store for me on the Saturday morning. Ciarán convinced me, pretty much against my tired and fragile will, on Saturday to go for a walk. I put terrible clothes on! He brought me to one of my favourite places, the rose garden in the memorial gardens in Dublin, and proposed there with a bunch of roses and of course the ring. I really wasn’t expecting it. We went to the Tannery in Waterford then for 2 nights to celebrate.

The couple quickly decided on a short engagement and began planning their wedding for a year later in April 2013. They both wanted a very colourful, fun and musically inspired day and Moira felt that the perfect flowers and decor would help bring this theme across. She visited Sarah in the The Secret Garden, Newmarket and left literally jumping with excitement, as they both had exactly the same taste.

I think knowing the vibe we wanted our wedding to have made planning it much easier and a lot more fun. Staying focused on the theme stopped me getting distracted by the huge amount of choice and variety there is available for weddings. We really wanted it to be a ‘Moira and Ciarán’ day.

When it came to her dress Moira knew exactly what she wanted.

I couldn’t see the dress I wanted in shops so I knew early on I was going to get mine made. I got a recommendation of Victoria Redford in Greystones, Co. Wicklow from a friend and was delighted I did. She understood immediately what I was looking for and suggested some lovely details that I wouldn’t have considered. I wanted to look like myself in the dress and that it would be comfortable, and it was so!

It sounds cheesy, but our day really was the best day of our lives. Surrounded by everyone you love, how could it not be! It was a really really fun day. There was so much music on the day. The Castlelyons Gospel Choir raised the roof off the church during the ceremony, and the band The The Papa Zita had absolutely everybody on the dance floor. So much so that when the DJ came on, the floor was almost empty for the first 30 minutes because everyone had to have a breather. It soon picked up, and then there was a big sing-song afterwards. Exactly what we wanted! The weather was awful but Leanne our photographer spotted a cottage across from the church and suggested we go there instead of our planned destination. I got my favourite picture of the day outside there! Totally unplanned.

We love Ciaran’s record cuff links – it’s great to see a groom adding a little personality to his outfit – a really nice touch!

Advice for other couples

Take a night away just the two of you a few days before the wedding. Actually schedule it in and book it so that it doesn’t get bumped down come the wedding week. It helps you to reconnect in what is a very busy time, and to remember it’s not just a wedding, but a marriage that you’re planning.

Also, bear in mind that on the day, the only thing that can actually go wrong is if by the end of the day you are not married. As long as that happens then it all went well.

Moira and Ciaran’s music theme continued throughout the day – we love these record table names.
