4 Perfect Colour Palettes for 2017 Weddings

Inspiration

Most couples will find that a colour palette for their wedding forms organically – maybe the groom has always known what colour he wants his suit to be, or some gorge purple bridesmaids dresses were half price in a sale, or maybe the venue is such a style statement that everything flows from there? If however, you’re at a loss when it comes to tying your decor and dress together for the Big Day, perhaps it’ll be easier to settle on a palette and stick to that? Greenery is of course the colour and theme of the year (it being Pantone’s pick for 2017) but we’re also loving some more familiar colours and colour combos for this year. Check out some of our fave options below.

Subtle Neutrals

Neutral will always be in for weddings, and this year it’s the most romantic palette on our radar. Pops of metallic can work with this theme, if you’re looking to inject a little glamour into your decor. We love the look of gold with greys, off-whites and with just a tiny touch of greenery brought in for a bit of depth. Bridesmaids will love this theme as it allows for really romantic fabrics and soft silhouettes – shapes and shades that suit every shape and size.

Gorgeous Greenery

Get ready to notice greenery everywhere this year guys; Pantone has christened it the colour of 2017 and we’re already seeing it in restaurants, shops, interior design mags and of course on all the wedding blogs at the moment. From headpieces to backdrops to centrepieces it’s all about eucalyptus leaves and fresh garlands, foliage bouquets and pretty, pared-back natural accents. There’s plenty of inspiration around for this one – the only trouble is it’s tempting to go overboard. Keep it light and let the leaves speak for themselves!

Copper & Grey

Contemporary, industrial style weddings were a big trend in weddings in 2016 and while not huge in Ireland, we couldn’t help but fall in love with the stark, clean styles we were seeing from our friends over the pond. With wedding venues coming in every shape or form these days, it’s only natural that couples are experimenting with decor that complements even the most unusual spaces. Enter Edison lightbulbs, geometric accents, wood and leather furnishings and copper fixings.  The vibe is a fresh, cool and elegant urban soiree and we really hope to see more of it in Irish weddings for 2017!

Navy & Marsala

This has been one of our favourite colour combos for weddings over the last few years and we think Autumn/Winter couples are really going to embrace it in 2017/2018. Navy and maroon work amazingly well together, and as long as you’re up for putting a bit more effort into the decor than maybe you would for a one-colour theme, this will look very striking on the day. Bridesmaids are sorted in either shade, and build your flowers with pinks, wines and some green. Stationery is going to be your forte with this palette – and if you’re feeling extra glam, get yours with a pop of gold to really make an impact!
