Something Blue: A Beautiful Blue Themed Wedding

Articles, Real Weddings

Meet Kirstie and Peter, a lovely couple whose wedding centred around ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’. We love the shades of blue in the bridesmaids dresses, flowers, and even the cake!

Peter managed to totally surprise Kirstie when he proposed! This is the story from her perspective:

“We were heading to meet our family for dinner and drinks, which Peter decided we’d go for a drink beforehand. We were watching the Dublin vs Kildare – I didn’t realise Peter had gone in beforehand to ask someone to video it all. We took the last few minutes of the match inside the Oval bar when I felt this tap on my leg. Peter always said he’d catch me off guard and by god did he! The answer was a most definite Yes!”

The theme of their wedding was “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. You can see the charming touches of blue in the bridesmaids dresses, flowers and even the cake!

Kirstie wore a Mikealla dress with an added diamond belt, a Swarovski high top Converse and a Swarovski veil – all from Truly Bridal.

Peter wore a navy blue tux and dickie bow – all from Moss Menswear.

The groomsmen, junior groomsmen and page boy all wore a black tux.

The bridesmaids wore a silver loose fitted dress and the junior bridesmaids and flower girl wore a light blue dress.

Kirstie and Peter say, “Our Ceremony was everything and more.”

Their solemniser, Michael Grace did a wonderful job of expressing love throughout the ceremony!

They hosted their wedding ceremony and reception at Mount Wolseley Hotel, which they describe as fabulous!

“The moment we went in at the very first viewing everything was fanatstic. The food, the staff, the venue, location everything. Danielle, Bernie and the team looked after us so well – they are fantastic at their jobs. Judging by the team, it’s a great place to work.”

Everything was beautifully captured by Marcin and Martha, a husband and wife team behind M and M Photography.

“What a combination to have at a wedding. Having seen their work through social media we just knew they were for us. The finest of details wasn’t forgotten. We had such a wonderful experience with them. We cannot thank them enough for the captions they took, making it so fresh to look back at. The work is unbelieveable. Hugely recommended.”

To entertain their guests, they had a band and DJ for after dinner!

“We were planning during Covid so the going to showcases didn’t really happen then. A lot of research had to go into a band and we found Sax on Fire. The guys were fantastic, they had the crowd dancing the whole night.”

We always ask newlyweds for their best wedding planning advice. This is what Kirstie and Peter said:

“Don’t stress, everything has its way of working out. As I am a really organised person I would suggest you plan with plenty of time. Write a list of everything done or not done. I don’t like to delegate but for certain things I did ask, what are they gonna say “no”. Have FUN!!!”
