We met… On a dating site called Plenty of Fish in 2007. I had been on it for 1 year and James was on it 2 days. The rest is history.

Our proposal… We took a trip to New York in 2011. The day we arrived we visited the Rockafeller Centre in New York and I am absolutely terrified of heights. When we got to the top I was holding on for dear life at the side of the wall. I turned away and then when I looked back, James was on his knee and asking me to marry him. Mixed with fear, joy and happiness, I immediately said yes and suddenly my fear of heights disappeared.

Our wedding theme/colours… Our wedding theme was based around us as a couple. Different elements of who we are, individually and as a couple. We both loved rustic styling.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… We made the table plan ourselves. We found an old frame and used rope and attached our Wrestling/Superhero Plans to them.

My dress… I found ‘’The House of Mooski’’ online and travelled over to Newcastle to meet the owner at a bridal fair. I wanted a 1950s style length but was unsure what style. Without even trying on a dress, I fell in love with it. I knew it was the one.  The girl showed me the dress in the online catalogue advising me of the name of the dress. It was called the ‘’ Lilly’’ Dress. I froze on the spot and shivers went down my spine. In 2011 I lost my mother and her name was Lilly!!!!!!!! I immediately knew this was the dress!!!!!!!  It fit like a glove on the night, and I twirled the whole night through. It was blush coloured.

My hair and makeup… My Hair Susan Peggs from the powder room girls. And Makeup Rhona Cullinan from the powder room girls.

His suit… James’s suit was bought in Bertoni’s in Talbot Street. It was originally a plain Burgandy suit that was tailored into a tux style.

What our bridal party wore… Bridesmaids wore Ice Grey Dresses from Quiz clothing. Shoes Debenhams. Groomsmen wore Suits from Burtons and Shoes from Burtons. Flower Girl Dress from Debenhams. Father of the Groom and Bride Wore Suits from Burtons and Shoes.

Our ceremony… Was onsite in the tin chapel in Mount Druid. Our Officiant was Dara Molloy. Dara brings something magical to the ceremony and we wanted the ceremony to be based around fertility. And you could say it was a magical ceremony as I found out I was pregnant on honeymoon … IT WORKED.

We chose our photographer because… I found Syona online, and I loved the style of photo and the way they take the photo. It is so natural, the lighting and tones in the images are amazing, and suited us as a couple. Plus it was a different style of Wedding photography that I had seen.  They are an amazing couple to work with.

We chose our venue because… we heard about the venue through a friend. We had been in a lot of venues and we just didn’t seem to find the one that suited what we wanted. Until we found Mount Druid. I fell in love with it immediately and my husband loved it too. It was just so quirky and nothing I had ever seen before. We also love festivals and wanted something so laid back too. Plus everything was onsite.

Our menu… Our Menu was

Starter: Caesar Salad

Main: Hake or Beef

Dessert: Apple Pie

Our honeymoon…Was in Las Vegas, Cancun, and New York. We went for 15 Days, on the second last day of honeymoon in New York, we found out we were expecting. We were trying for years!

My favourite part of the wedding day… Was marrying my wedding ceremony, and walking up the aisle with my dad, and of course, Dancing the night away and twirling in my dress.

My piece of advice for other couples… Do not sweat about the small stuff,  style the wedding, don’t settle for tradition, think outside the box.
