What toy/plaything for a newborn

Ok I am really bored now and I am thinking all things I don't need to be worried about. But we bought the rainforest mobile today for bubs after I got sent home from hospital to cheer me up its really cute but we got ripped off in eurocycles it was 60 and in smyths only 40 Anyway you live and learn.. The thing is we haven't bought any other toys, what bouncer would you recommend, do you need to buy a jungle gym playmat as well as the bouncer for a newborn?

I got the slumber bear too! Hope it works!!! Porshe, one of my sisters bought me a jungle gym playmat, and another sister bought me a swinging musical chair. I have ones in mind that I'd like for baby but havent bought them yet just in case baby receives any gifts or we are asked what would we like for baby. One friend has already given us our angelcare monitor so we havent bought any play things just yet.

Hiya, I got my LO a gorgeous playmat from mothercare. http://www.mothercare.com/happy-safari- ... 1&mcb=core It was padded so it was so comfy for him to lie in from when he was a couple of days old . I also found a bouncy seat was invaluable, we had one which vibrated and it used to calm him/send him to sleep. Also he LOVED the lamaze toys which you can get in smyths. TBH that's all that you really need at the newborn stage although the temptation to go spend crazy is always there!
