Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla is an experienced harpist living in Dundalk, Co.Louth, Ireland. She initially studied Harp with Siobhán Ní Dhúill and continued her studies at DIT Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Nancy Calthorpe and Denise Kelly Mc Donnell.  She has performed across Europe and held the position of Irish Harpist at Áras an Uachtarán, during the first term of office of President McAleese.  She is a former winner of Feis Ceoil and Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann. She has been tutoring Irish harp for years currently she teaches Irish Harp for Music Generation Louth (VEC), Dundalk Grammar School, Bush Post-Primary School and Comhaltas Ceoiltóirí Éireann where she is also involved in Grúpaí Cheoil and Seisiún.Deirdre has years of experience playing at corporate functions, weddings and events as a soloist and as a member of traditional music groups.  The soothing and relaxing sound of the harp lends itself well to background music and adds to the ambience of any occasion.  It is particularly nice in a church or ceremony setting but also very beautiful in the background during your pre-dinner drinks or throughout Dinner.  Deirdre has an extensive repertoire including Traditional Irish, Old Irish Harp Music, Classical and Popular Music and is happy to learn specific pieces of music on request.

We book Deirdre for our wedding last Oct after speaking with her for some time on line. As we had some odd requests it was difficult to get someone who could suit our needs but Deirdre assured us that she could meet them. We gave her a list of modern songs from artists like snowpatrol (chasing cars) for my wife's entrance to kings of Leon(use somebody) at the signing of the register, not only did she learn these new songs off for us but also met with my sister who sang at the wedding and played through out her songs. All in all Deirdre was a life safer as my wife left all the music up to me as my only job and she delivered. Thanks a mill. All the best.

We got married in the Glendalough Hotel at a civil ceremony in August 2009. Wanting to make the ceremony more personal to us we booked Deirdre to play the harp throughout the ceremony. Deirdre worked with us to choose the right music throughout and shared many ideas of suitable choices so we had a wide selection to choose from.

My own fond memories will always be of walking into the room with Deirdre playing 'she moves through the fair' on the harp, it literally brought tears to my eyes. She really is a gifted and talented player and made our day very special. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to play at any ceremony or gathering and I am more than happy to do so.
