We got married in Barberstown Castle and couldn't recommend it enough to other couples as a venue in terms of the professionalism & friendliness of all staff, the flexibility, the beauty of the room/premises & the impeccable food. We have been to a huge amount of wedding venues in Ireland both attending as guests and also viewing as potential venues and we couldn't be happier with the choice we made.
We chose to do both the ceremony and reception in Barberstown which worked perfectly for us and our guests. It meant the entire day went so fluid and it seemed like everything was always 100% in control with Sinead and all the other members of staff. We had a large wedding of over 200 guests and we were blown away by the individual feedback from our guests around all things Barberstown.
We really wouldn't change one thing about the day and cant explain how simple it was to deal with the team at Barberstown throughout the entire planning process and over the weekend. They really are experts in their field! :-)

First of all the staff of Barberstown Castle were excellent in particular Sinead and Sarah.

Sinead was our wedding coordinator. She had a great attention to detail, always in contact, put us at ease and really a nice person. Her work rate and professionalism on the day was exceptional. She had the whole day flowing so well. She is a credit to herself and the hotel.

Sarah sorted out the accommodation for us and our guest. Believe me I had loads of requests and question and she answered them and done all of our requests. She is very good at her job.

I would highly recommend Barberstown Castle. The venue had everything we wanted in our wedding. The decor is magical, food was excellent and staff was top notch. The layout of the day went very well. Barberstown Castle was a magical setting for our magical day! The wedding team couldn't do enough to help us throughout the process from booking right through to the day after our wedding! The food and service was incredible! We held our welcome party at The Haggard Pub at Barberstown Castle, and it was absolutely perfect! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our large group, ensuring everyone felt right at home. The bartenders were attentive and friendly, keeping things moving smoothly all night. The staff helped guide guests to where they needed to be, and the overall flow of the room was spot-on, creating an inviting and festive atmosphere. The team at Barberstown Castle made the night before our wedding easy and enjoyable for both us and our families. If you’re looking for a venue with charm, professionalism, and top-notch service, The Haggard Pub is an excellent choice!

Barberstown should be the No.1 wedding venue in the country! We were able to have our 3 day wedding weekend there this August Bank Holiday Weekend and it was amazing! On Friday we had a gorgeous meal for 20 of our nearest and dearest in the Castle keep, a fabulous outdoor ceremony and reception, a beautiful meal in the Wedding Hall and a rocking day 2 in the quaint Haggard Bar. The staff went above and beyond to make sure us and all of our guests were looked after to the highest standard. The food is incredible, and also importantly the bar service was fantastic! From Ted the Managing Director, Sinéad our Wedding Coordinator, Bernie in the kitchen, Lorna our Wedding day server, Heather at reception and the bar dream team Aidan & Sean to name a few the team at Barberstown that are incredible at what the do! They have so many weddings all the time (1 per day policy though) but they really make you feel like VIPs and they only wedding they have had in awhile which is a testament to their commitment to top service! Each location on the grounds of Barberstown is beautifully maintained and absolutely stunning, every single photo on the day are great because of the backdrop! We can't recommend Barberstown more highly!

Barberstown Castle is such a special place to get married. I don't even need to make a list of what was incredible about it because everything about it was.

They were so easy to work with and made our day spectacular. It really is a hidden gem!

Every detail, from the setup to the service, exceeded our expectations. Your staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and that our guests felt welcome and comfortable.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding at Barberstown Castle on the 8th of June, 2024.
From start to finish the weddings team were incredible to work with! I was a very anxious and nervous bride to be, and they were so kind and patient and incredibly helpful while we were planning the big day.
On the day itself everything was pure perfection, no request went unseen and they really went above and beyond to make our day absolutely magical.
Our guests were raving about the food, and very rightly so! Every single bite was pure decadence!
I cant recommend Barberstown Highly enough, I wish I could give more than 5 stars because it was truly the best day we could have ever imagined!

We had our wedding in May at Barberstown and we could not recommend it more. We had the most magical weekend and Barberstown supported us the whole time. We were able to do our rehearsal, wedding, and day two on the property with ease. Working with Sinead and Annie was a dream they were always available to meet and have a call if we had any questions. It made planning a wedding from the states so easy. On the day Sinead was with us all day, while Annie was roaming keeping an eye on everything, and their impact was felt throughout - the day couldn’t have run more smoothly!

Barberstown not only has a separate location for all three days, making each day feel unique, it’s also so convenient to stay at and close to Maynooth for traveling to and from both the venue and the airport.

Special shout out to the bar staff with us on the wedding day and day two. They were rockstars and so kind all weekend!

We had an amazing wedding weekend at Barberstown Castle! We chose Barberstown because they would let our little dog be apart of the ceremony and be with us throughout the day, they had enough accommodation on site for my family traveling from abroad, and they had stunning indoor and outdoor areas. The rehearsal dinner the evening before was a magical intimate affair inside the castle itself, on the wedding day people enjoyed the beautiful gardens and patio as well as the medieval banquet hall, and on the day 2 everyone could relax in the on site shebeen for some music. The food on all of the days was beyond our expectations and raved about by our guests. We highly recommend Barberstown Castle!

Barberstown Castle amazing venue . Our total experience from introduction leading up to wedding to the day of wedding to morning after wedding a totally amazing and such a feel good experience. Annie our wedding planner and her team were there for us totally with brilliant suggestions from florists to cakes to photography to bands all brilliant. The venue, food and service exceeded all our expectations and was honestly the best day of our lives.
The rooms were dreamy and the amazing staff were just incredible. We started with a rehearsal dinner in the castle keep the night before - a lovely opportunity for our families to meet and mingle. The food and service were incredible and really got the excitement going for the big next day.
Us and our guests were blown away on the actual day - everything went so smoothly and the attention to deatil was perfect. Everyone could not get over how good the food was (and how much!) And also how lovely the staff were. Special mentioned to the 2 bar staff who put up with us until 3:30am - they were just amazing and kept the fun atmosphere going!
Highlight for me personally was the amazing photo opportunities everywhere - the rooms getting ready, the ceremony space, the great spots outdoors around the castle - so many amazing memories with the most perefect back drop. Organising a wedding abroad can be tough but Barberstown and Annie in particular made it a breeze. Forever grateful - thank you Barberstown Castle.

From the moment we entered Barberstown Castle we knew it was going to be the perfect venue, the staff are so professional and warm, the food was amazing, Stress was not an issue as Olivia and Annie were so on top of everything it was impossible to be stressed. The venue itself is magical , spotlessly clean and has a laid back vibe which makes everyone else feel at ease but standards of service and food are high, I can honestly say my experience was perfect, I would recommend this venue and if I were to do it all again i would choose Barberstown

The venue was breathtaking, the staff were so warm and helpful, food was perfection, Annie and Olivia the wedding planners ensured a stress free experience.

All I can say about Barberstown Castle is WOW! From the moment we viewed the venue we knew we were going to have the best day. The wedding team are beyond accommodating, no requests were too much, and thanks to all the staff the whole day/night went off without a hitch! The banqueting hall was even more stunning than we remembered and the food was incredible. The staff were all so friendly and professional and Sinead in particular made sure we wanted for nothing on the day! We cannot wait to visit the hotel again and hope we are lucky enough to attend another wedding as guests in the future.

We cannot recommend Barberstown Castle enough as a wedding venue. We popped into them on a whim and couldn't be happier that we did! We visited in December, with all the Christmas decorations up and it was magical. Annie is phenomenal - no question was too silly and she always made us feel welcome. Her personalised touch made it feel like we were the only wedding taking place in the year we planned it. The food was delicious and they came around with seconds for everyone. I could not compliment every single staff member more than we did on Day 2, from waitstaff to bar staff, and everyone in between - they genuinely seemed happy to have us there. They made it even more special for us by being so kind and helpful. We really and truly could not recommend the entire staff here enough - even if it's not for you for the wedding day, definitely consider it for a minimoon!

My partner and I went to a wedding fair and it was the very first time we had contact with Annie (wedding planner).

Since the very first moment she was very nice and helpful! We organised our wedding in only 8 months and she was amazing! She took care of every single detail we wanted! On the day, everything was perfect!

I can't recommend them enough! The castle is beautiful by itself but what makes it a great choice is the staff!

We had our wedding in Barberstown Castle recently, from our first visit to our special day everything was beyond perfect, Annie our wedding co-ordinator was just amazing nothing was too much for her and our day went so smoothly we can't thank her enough, the venue is so beautiful and the decor in the ceremony room and dining room is so beautiful you couldn't ask for a better setting it's the most romantic place I've ever seen, the staff at Barberstown are second to none everyone was so nice and friendly the quality of service was out of this world, the food was exceptional all our guest were beyond impressed with it and gave us so many compliments. Barberstown Castle is a fantastic venue. We went for the Willows package which was so worth it. The food included in this is amazing right through from the generous canapés to dessert. The staff and management could not do enough to make us feel like the stars of the show on the day. Our biggest concern was that our guests would have a good time, however, and they couldn't have been more complimentary of everything. The amazing food and spectacular venue being the most commented on.

My husband and I had the most amazing wedding at Barberstown Castle. After the first venue viewing there, meeting Annie the wedding coordinator, and seeing the stunning grounds, we knew this was where we would get married.

We had our wedding weekend at Barberstown and everything was perfect from the planning with Annie from overseas, to the reservations teams accommodation of our many guests upon arrival to the hotel, to the dinner the night before, to the day of and the day after. The staff were all incredible, we felt SO looked after all weekend long, and our guests cannot stop raving about Barberstown - for its beauty as a venue, the incredible food (and generous portions!), and the amazing staff. Annie, Richard and the team made everything so easy for us, our guests and our vendors.

We got married at Barberstown Castle in May 2023, Annie was our wedding coordinator. She was very professional and easy to work with. We had 2 in person meetings with Annie. She always made us feel at ease and reassured us that everything is going to be ok. She kept her promise. The wedding was perfect. The coordination on the wedding day, the food, the attention to details, the professionalism of the staffs and the presentation of the venue and the food were very impressive. We can say with confidence that nothing went wrong and everything was as planned.

The venue was beautiful. The interior design was stunning, so minimal decoration was required. The reception and the cocktail hour room looked really great in the photos. Overall the venue was very photogenic. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Ted, who made us feel very welcomed.

We recently had our wedding at Barberstown Castle, and we can't say enough good things about our experience! My husband and I came as an international couple with about 60 guests from the United States. Barberstown truly took care of EVERYTHING, and made sure all ran smoothly the entire 2-3 days we were all on site! From our arrival, to the pre-wedding dinner, our gathering of clans, the day of the wedding, through the morning after, absolutely everything went off without a hitch! Our guests repeatedly told us what a great wedding weekend it was, and many of them told us that our wedding was the best they had ever been to, including their own! The only "less than 5 star" remark we gave, is responsiveness, and even that wasn't "bad"-- but being an international couple makes you extra nervous about certain aspects and we American's tend to need a lot of re-assurance! All in all, I'm not sure what we even worried about -- everything went perfectly when we arrived!

We would 100% absolutely recommend this venue for anyone-- especially international couples!!! We are already making it a point to come back and visit for an anniversary, just because it was so incredibly special!

I cannot recommend Barberstown castle enough for hosting a wedding. From the first meeting we knew we wanted to have our special day there. There was nothing too big or too small that Saoirse and Annie would not do for us. No request was a problem and everything we wanted was allowed. We wanted a small wedding and there was no issue with numbers etc. The choice and variety of meals available was excellent and particularly for the vegetarians who rarely get a choice! The day itself could not have been anymore perfect. Annie and Saoirse being true professionals guided us and looked after us throughout the day. They really ensured that everything went to plan and made it so easy for us to actually enjoy the day as they dud the worrying and running around for us! The meal was amazing and we received so many good reviews from our guests. The Castle owner Ted also introduced himself to make sure everyone was happy with how everything was, we thought this was a nice personal touch. Everyone commented on how helpful and lovely the staff were.
We had a few issues at the start with the reservations side of things but this was rectified. The rooms were big and spacious with many of our guests sleeping in fabulous four poster beds! The breakfast was delicious. We held a bbq in the Haggard on the Saturday which really just ended a fabulous weekend.! Barberstown was like a fairytale venue for me. It was perfect and I would go back and do it all again tomorrow. Thank you to all the amazing staff at Barberstown Castle.

We got engaged during the pandemic so we had to do our research online. We chose Barberstown Castle for our wedding because it looked so beautiful on our initial video call with Aoife. When we eventually got to view the castle, we were even more delighted and knew it was the perfect venue for us. The castle has a special ambience and looks fabulous inside with open fires, candles and golden tapestries. The ceremony room is flooded with natural light overlooking stunning gardens which is an ideal backdrop for wedding photos.

We got married at the end of October 2022 and the autumn leaves were spectacular. We arrived 2 days beforehand to relax and enjoy the lead up to our wedding. Annie the wedding planner was so warm, friendly and professional putting us at ease straightaway.

Annie, together with Saoirse and Ted did a fantastic job on the day of our wedding guiding us both to where we needed to be which allowed us to relax with our guests and be in the moment.

The staff at Barberstown Castle were exceptional and could not do enough for us. So many of our guests commented on the excellent service and warm helpful staff. Guests also spoke about how tasty the canapés were and how delicious the wedding dinner was. We chose salmon and beef which was perfect and many of our guests even got a taste of both when the seconds came around!

We booked The Haggard for day 2 celebrations which was a great success. The Haggard is a typically old Irish Pub on the grounds of the hotel. Open fires provided a cosy warm atmosphere together with live music and good food made for a great time. We chose barbeque food and again everyone commented on the excellent service and the delicious food. Keith and his team were fantastic and could not do enough for us.

It was a magical weekend - thank you to the whole team at Barberstown Castle! We had the most wonderful wedding celebration with our family and friends - surpassing everything we could have wished for.

I cannot thank the staff at Barberstown Castle enough for the amazing job they did in organising our wedding. From the very beginning, they were communicative, organised, friendly, and accommodating. I specifically want to thank Sara for all the planning in the year before the wedding, and Annie and Richard for all the final organisation in the run-up to the wedding and on the big day. Everything went incredibly smoothly due to their hard work and that of their team, and we knew we were in safe hands with them so could relax and enjoy the day.

Barberstown Castle is an absolutely stunning venue and was very reasonably priced for everything that was included in the package. The food was incredible thanks to their fantastic French chef Bertrand - all our guests commented on how delicious the meal was. The location was also brilliant - only a 40 minute drive from Dublin which meant I could get ready in my family home in the morning which was a lovely addition. I can't recommend this venue highly enough and wish we could do the whole thing all over again!

When the weather changed, you arranged a lovely indoor location for the official photos. While you give us special attention, you also made sure all our guests were very well looked after too. For example, when unexpected guests arrived, you readily accommodated them after checking with us. You were very flexible to our needs. All the guests loved Barberstown Castle. Some had been there before and knowing what to expect told us they were really looking forward to going back. It is a magnificent setting and the grounds are impressive but not overstated. From the first moment we viewed Barberstown Castle in February 2020 we were in love with the place. Sara was amazing with answering any questions and keeping us reassured during Covid. We were originally scheduled to have our wedding reception in May 2021 and postponed because of the pandemic and the change in date was made extremely seamless. On the day Sara, Richard and Ted couldn't do enough for us. They made us and our guests feel so special from the welcome to the food and service there would not be one thing we would change. They really made it an unforgettable day for us both

I just had my wedding here last Sunday and I cannot say enough fantastic things about this place. I booked it blindly from America thinking we could go and visit, but COVID hit and the first time I saw it was the day before my wedding. I?d do it all over again if I could.

The food is amazing, the staff is friendly, the rooms are great, and they made my wedding day run seamlessly. Richard the manager was there for us every step of the way- he was beyond fantastic. Seriously, the weather cleared up right before my ceremony and I'm convinced Richard somehow made that happen.

We and our guests had the time of our lives over 3 days at Barberstown Castle and I wouldn't of changed anything. I?d give them a thousand stars if I could.

A stunning venue but especially at Christmas, beautifully decorated, exquisite food. The open fires create a unique ambience. It feels intimate even if you have a larger wedding. If a castle style is something you have in mind then this is the venue for you.

Couldn't ask for a better venue

We recently had our wedding at Barberstown Castle on March 8, 2019 and I would HIGHLY recommend it as a venue for your wedding. First of all the staff where amazing leading up to the wedding especially since we where planning the wedding from Canada. On the wedding day the staff where simply amazing and so helpful and kind. The food was the best part of the whole day and all the guests raved about the food and staff all day and even to this day. Highly highly highly recommend Barberstown Castle.

We had a wonderful day in late December 2018 for our wedding. The venue looked beautiful on the day and all of our guests were extremely impressed by the quality of the food and wine. Suzanne and Sarah were very approachable, so nice and helpful to deal with throughout the process and run up to the day. Only suggestion would be to add card payment facilities in the reception bar. Overall the staff at Barberstown provided an excellent service and we would definitely recommend this venue to celebrate your day.

My (now) husband and I were looking for the perfect venue for our destination wedding (we are from the US). When we found Barberstown, the staff immediately understood any concerns we had with planning an overseas wedding, since we would likely not be able to see the venue prior to the big day. From enquiry on, Gretchen and Susanne (not to mention the AMAZING rest of the staff) truly put us at the utmost ease.

As luck would have it, we were able to visit the venue twice prior to the wedding and each time just reinforced what a great decision we made. To say that every step was simple and well-handled would be an injustice- everything was perfect.

Come the day of, everybody in attendance was in awe of how beautiful everything was, the impeccable service and delicious food. Not one single detail from planning, to check-in, to post wedding was overlooked. The entire staff went head over heels to cater to anything we may need and truly made the night magical. I could never fathom having such an incredible experience in the United States.

Irish or destination brides fear not- the staff at Barberstown are truly one-of-a-kind amazing and will do everything within human capabilities to make your day sheer perfection!

We had our wedding in Barberstown Castle on 22nd September and we had an absolutely fantastic day, all the staff in Barberstown were brilliant and they made sure everything went smoothly.

All our guests thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the venue - the reception room and the dining/function room were beautiful on the day - cosy, lovely atmosphere, old style decor - exactly what we wanted; not just an average hotel room !

A special thanks to Sara, Siofa and Gretchen who were our wedding co-coordinators and dealt with all our queries in the lead up efficiently and pleasantly and were very helpful overall. Also, Matthew the banqueting manager was brilliant on the day and made sure everything went smoothly. Everyone commented on how good the food was also!

Myself and Kevin got married on the 3rd of August 2018 and had our reception in Barberstown Castle. We cannot speak highly enough of such an amazing venue. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming throughout all our visits leading up to our special day. The day of our wedding they were so professional and looked after us and our families and friends so well, attending to our every need.

We knew from the moment that Anna showed us to the wedding reception area that we wanted to have our wedding in barberstown castle. We cant speak highly enough of the care and attention Anna and the rest of the team showed us not only in the preparation stages but on our wedding day. They were always to hand, noticing the smallest detail like that my mam doesnt drink wine and checking with her what she would prefer. These small details on top of providing the most beautiful venue and delicious food made our wedding day. It was great value for money, the standard was impeccable. Everyone is still raving about the food! We cant recommend Barberstown Castle enough.

To anyone who is thinking of having there wedding at Barberstown Castle, there is only one answer.... Absolutely!! We had our magical day, on July 7th 2017. It was perfect. The professional, friendly, personal and attention to detail from all the staff on the day and leading up to the day was incredible. I can honestly say that it was the best day of our lives with thanks to Anna who is an amazing wedding co-ordinator. It was an instant connection when we met Anna, which was about this time 2 years ago. I knew Barberstown was the place for us. There was no doubt in our minds. Anna was so helpful, kind, considerate, friendly and added such a personal touch. On the day itself, everything ran so perfectly. The food was absolutely delicious, I still talk about the Salmon parcels, they were FAB! The canapes was gorgeous too, all our guests raved about the food on the day and of course the home brew beer.. My only regret is that the day went in too fast, I would do it over and over... Although we did spend the second day there, having a beautiful family meal in the Barton Rooms, was nice to make the most of our special weekend.. And again the food was exceptional.
Thanks to all the amazing team, especially Anna and Matthew for doing us the most wonderful job and putting us at ease on the day! It was such pleasure for us. We are already looking forward to our next trip down to the castle to reminisce on the most perfect day. We are totally in love with Barberstown Castle and proud to say it was our wedding venue. When I initially viewed Barberstown it was after viewing 10 other venues scattered around Wicklow/Kildare/Dublin and I remember thinking how difficult it was going to be to choose the venue. Everywhere seemed so nice!

Thats until I stepped inside Barberstown Castle.

I was immediately blown away by the venue (the banqueting hall is full of character and so unique) and I was very impressed by the genuine warmth and enthusiasm of the wedding coordinator Anna, that we booked straight away.

Anna continued to impress us. She made the planning easy and went above and beyond. In the lead up to the wedding we felt so relaxed and were able to enjoy every moment and we both feel Anna had a huge role to play in this.

On the day itself, The Banqueting hall looked even better than we had remembered.

The food was superb. I heard someone say ?Thats the best beef i've ever had? and much to everyones joy there was lots of it.

All the staff were amazing. In particular Matthew, the banqueting manager who made sure everything went smoothly.

If you are looking for a unique venue, with great food and brilliant staff I couldn't recommend Barberstown enough. We wish we could do it all again!

We got married this December in Barberstown Castle and could not have picked a more perfect venue. From the moment we first walked in to view the venue we both know it was the one and could not have been happier with our decision. The venue was decorated for Christmas with lots of trees and open fires which was so cozy and magical. All The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us with a special mention to Anna our wedding coordinator who was always happy and quick to reply to my many emails and looked after all our requests and Matthew the banquet manager who made sure the reception ran like clockwork. The food was exceptional with all our guests commenting on how amazing it was. We can't say thank you enough for making our wedding so special and stress free, wish we could do it all over again! To anyone considering booking this venue do it now as you will not regret it!

Just want to give upcoming brides my review of barberstown castle if you are considering the venue for your wedding. We went to a number of different venues and barberstown castle won hands down for many different reasons.. firstly let me say the venue is absolutely STUNNING!!! ???? The grounds are picture perfect and the hotel is just beautiful. We had 120 guests and got married on the 9th of December as we really wanted a Christmas wedding!! We also decided to have our ceremony at the castle and it was my favourite part of the day. With the Christmas tree up and all the log fires lighting I couldn't have been happier on the day, it was like a fairytale!!! Anna and Gretchen were out wedding co-ordinaters and Matthew was the banquet manager on the day, honestly, they were amazing and completely looked after us from the day we booked all the way through up until we checked out of the hotel as Mr & Mrs!!! The food was gorgeous and all our guest commented on how big the portions were which I was so happy with!!! Everything was fantastic Matthew kept me topped up with wine all night long and my guests all said the staff couldn't have done more for them also!!! I am so happy I chose Barberstown castle and would recommend the venue to any one who wants a real authentic beautiful wedding!!

We fell in love with Barberstown Castle as the venue for our wedding on that first visit& cancelled viewings for all other places then! Anna and her colleagues made us feel as though we were the only couple in the world getting married, our every request accomodated, every question answered so promptly, always friendly and relaxed while exuding professionalism! We had the most beautiful, magical, elegant & romantic wedding at Barberstown Castle. From the moment we saw Barberstown we knew we had to have it. We had our wedding reception in Barberstown Castle on the 8th October last year and had the most amazing day. We really could not have asked for more from our co-ordinator Anna and the Barberstown team. Everything was as we hoped for and more and we would have to look very very hard to try to find a single thing that did not meet our expectations.
From our very first visit, it felt like a special place to get married and it definitely was. Its character, warmth and atmosphere made it the perfect choice for our Autumn wedding and we were 100% happy with our venue choice. The team there were just amazing from Anna, Siofa and Gretchen to all of the reception staff, our lovely waiter for our family meal the night before and all of the bar staff, waiting staff and Mathew in the banquet hall. All of our guests were equally impressed and we have had many complements on the excellent food and service on the day. Unfortunately the castle itself was closed for renovations but it didn't take away from the amazing weekend we had there.
Barberstown made our day exactly what we wanted and we would happily recommend Barberstown to anyone looking for a wedding venue. We have to call out co-ordinator Anna in particular for whom no ask was too small and no idea not welcome. It was a true pleasure from start to finish and we would love to do it all again.

Overall we had a great experience with Barberstown castle.staff were very helpful and friendly !! The day went over smoothly the only critic I have is the lack of options alcohol for guests and to have more staff behind the bar !!

If we had to do it all again we would have our wedding again in Barberstown. It was fabulous. The venue is elegant and comfortable. The accommodation is plentiful and the rooms are beautiful. Having a separate area for the Banquet Hall where we could be away from the general hotel was great. It gave us privacy and made us feel special. The space available for us to use was incredible. It was great having a room set apart from the dance floor with fires and comfy chairs for our older guest. (And for us when we needed a break. )
The food was amazing. One guest (who has been to a number of weddings) said it was the best wedding food he had ever tasted. There was plenty for everyone and seconds for whoever wanted them. The morning after the wedding all the guests were together in the breakfast room. We had our own area and it was lovely to be able to mix with our guests again, especially for our families.
The value of having a tailored menu was good and meant there was little waste. The team were accommodating and helpful with contacts.
In terms of anything negative - I would say that they're not the best with paperwork. But I was happy to ignore that because in person the co-ordinators are friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you. Also on our day it was a cash bar only which we weren't aware of. To get cash out our guests had to leave the Banquet Hall and go into the hotel (which is 2 mins walk). But it was raining and we hadn't warned people. So it would be better if they had card facilities in the Banquet Hall.
Back to the positives because there are many more ... There are plenty of areas for amazing photos in the grounds and if it's raining there's plenty of atmosphere in the Banquet Hall and the hotel.
Everyone enjoyed the wedding. Both young and old. We had 9 children at the wedding from 2 years to 9 years of age and the staff were very patient with them. They ran around and had fun and there were no issues.
We look forward to visiting Barberstown again in the future as guests so that we can get to enjoy the beautiful rooms that they have for longer. And we definitely want to have dinner there again. It is truly amazing. I would recommend visiting the venue.

We had our civil ceremony and reception in Barberstown Castle in September and couldn't have been happier with how the day and night went. We had been guests at a wedding there before and had a great night so when we decided to get married it was always high on the list of potential venues. When we got the tour from Siofra the decision was an easy one.
We wanted something that was a little bit different to the ball room type venue and this was it ? it is unique. Our guests are still talking about the decorations on the walls, the smell of the fires and the suit of armour.
All the way through the planning process Siofra was very professional and accommodating, full of advice and ideas. Everything that we wanted to do was done without fuss and changes to allow for late responses or dietary requirements were never a problem ? we would have been lost without Siofra.
On the day we were lucky enough to be able to have our pictures taken in the amazing gardens in bright sunshine. The Willow Trees make for great photos. A very minor black mark was that parts of the gardens around the reception room could have done with a bit of attention so we decided to skip getting photos there ? plenty more photogenic places in the gardens.
Siofra and Anna were rocks of calm on the day, sorting everything out so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. The banqueting manager Mathew and his staff had everything running like clockwork throughout the meal and into the night.
The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it to go around.
In short, this is a fantastic place to have your wedding. Couldn't recommend the venue or the staff highly enough ? book it before someone else does.

We loved Barberstown as soon as we saw it, the layout, unique tables and chairs and stunning grounds. It didn't have the usual 'function room' feel that most hotels have. All the staff were amazing on the day and the service was exceptional. The food, drinks and all round attention to detail really exceeded our expectations. We had our wedding reception in Barberstown Castle last June and loved it. It's a magnificent venue with marvellous medieval architecture and all our guests were really impressed. The grandeur of the banquet hall is simply breathtaking and as a Game Of Thrones fan, it was loads of fun holding our day in a place like this. The room is modified nicely to accommodate the dance floor as it still retains the 11th century feel but works well to keep everyone up dancing all night. Barberstown's reputation for food was one of the reasons we chose the venue and the cuisine was delicious as expected.
I would like to thank Anna, our wedding coordinator in particular for guiding us in planning our wedding and ensuring everything was handled expertly. We found her friendly, efficient (which I greatly appreciate) and professional. She ensured our every request was met. Both Anna and Siofra made sure everything ran smoothly in the days prior to the wedding and Matthew looked after our guests right to the end of the night.

We started our search for a wedding venue back in 2015 and by luck came across the castle. We booked a consultation and the rest just fell into place! We knew we loved it immediately from the beautiful drive into the castle. The banqueting hall was like something out of a movie and once we saw the ceremony room we were absolutely sold!
As I had dreamed of an offbeat kind of day it fit in so well - such a beautiful light space which looked out on the gardens either side.
The hotel and grounds are stunning and we loved that there was plenty of space for all of our wedding party to stay over. The wedding space and hotel space are totally separate, meaning you have exclusivity and privacy on your wedding day.
In the run up to the wedding it was all very easy going! Every idea we had fit in and was welcomed by the hotel - thanks to Siofra, Lisa and Anna we never had a question unanswered. We decided we wanted to have our immediate family and wedding party to have a dinner and stay over the night before. The hotel were just a dream to work with - they organised a lovely space in the Edwardian Room for dinner and even served drinks late in the bar even though our party was so small.
The wedding day itself was a breeze and Anna, our coordinator, was such a sweetheart. She had the room set up exactly how we imagined and made sure everything ran how we envisioned it. She is so personable and we really felt in very capable hands.
The guests have not stopped commenting about how relaxed the day felt and on the food - we are total foodies and Barberstown know how to do good food! The serving staff worked so fast I barely noticed them and everything tasted amazing!
When we finally got back to our room in the early hours there was a lovely personalised frame left as a gift from the hotel to us, which we loved! Also a tip - get the champagne breakfast in bed and spend an hour with your new spouse in luxury!

We got married here exactly a month ago and had an absolutely perfect day. Anna, Lisa and Clare were an absolute pleasure to deal with in the running up to the wedding, and the day itself was perfect The staff went above and beyond to accommodate any requests we had, food was lovely and everything ran so smoothly. We had visited quite a few venues, but none compared to this one. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, in addition to the perfection of the venue which is just gorgeous, were the main factors that drew us to having our wedding here. As we live abroad, a lot of planning had to be done by email but that was no problem and my mind was put at ease very quickly when I had a query about anything. It was a pleasure to liaise with staff and both Adam and I couldn't recommend this venue more. My grandmother, who has lived to see many a wedding in her day (I won't reveal her age here), even commented that it was the nicest wedding she had ever been to. Will be recommending Barberstown to every person I know, not least because I would love to attend a wedding or two here in the future :).

Stress. Worry. Anger. Tears. Just a few of the crappy emotions and feelings experienced in the coming days before most weddings, but not ours.

The team at Barberstown took care of everything for us. They gave us sound advice, reminded us of upcoming tasks and pampered us on the day. Our goal for the special day was to have our reception somewhere different, special and relaxed; Barberstown Castle perfectly fit our exacting requirements. It is a beautifully kept historic venue with character and class, but without the drawbacks of most other older buildings (damp, musty etc.).

We arrived from the ceremony to be greeted quietly by our first host, Lisa. She had champagne waiting and let us know that everything was on track. She told us to worry about nothing from that point on as herself and her team were now in charge. Music to our ears! The fires were lit, the drinks were ready and the canapes were on their way out.

Our meal was magnificent, truly stunning. Timings were perfect and it's something we'll never forget. They even came around with second helpings for the main course! We opted for the BBQ option which was served at approx 10:30pm. It was delicious and a welcome sight after a few fizzy drinks. If your budget allows, I'd recommend this option. Our second, evening host, Matt made sure that everything progressed as it should.

We'll never be able to thank the Barberstown team enough for the perfect day they helped us with, it was truly flawless.

Its now just over two months since our big day! We were married on the 19th February 2016 at the beautiful Barberstown Castle and had the most amazing day and weekend. We viewed 3 venues before coming across Barberstown Castle, once we saw Barberstown and how spectacular it is we fell in love with the venue. The best way to describe Barberstown Castle is rustic, with a medieval feel but with an abundance of elegance! Following our booking we had a few issues as a result of us dealing with a few different wedding co-ordinators. This was not ideal however once Lisa took over as the main wedding co-ordinator the process became much easier and all issues were resolved. On the day its self the staff were so dedicated and attentive to us and our guests. They were all a pleasure to deal with and could not do enough for us. Over two months later our guests are still talking about how amazing the day was, the super quality of the food (amazing!) and the beautiful bedrooms at Barberstown. Barberstown is a very special and unique venue. The beautiful decor and elegance runs right throughout the hotel but the banqueting hall was the star of the show for us! It was so beautifully decorated with flowers, candles and fires lit throughout, providing the perfect ambiance and atmosphere for the day and evening. The day after the wedding we congregated with our guests in the beautiful tea rooms for tea/coffee to reminisce about the day and to say good bye to those leaving. That evening along with 25 guests we had another fantastic meal in a small dining room dedicated to our group following drinks in the hotel bar. Another fantastic night to top the whole weekend off. For any couples out there thinking about booking Barberstown for their big day I would highly recommend, You will not be disappointed!

We always knew that we had picked a very special venue for our big day, but we never imagined how perfect it really would be. The day itself really did exceed all expectations and it is not only due to the Castle being a beautiful venue but the staff are so attentive and made every step of the planning, organizing and co-ordinating on the day, completely stress free. They were all a pleasure to deal with. The Castle truly is so beautiful, and pictures do not do it justice. I have fallen more in love with the place since our wedding. There is a magical feel to the hotel, from the rooms,to the relaxed and airy tearooms, the Keep of the castle and restaurant area, which was ideal for our group dinner the night before the wedding. But especially the banqueting hall. With the beautiful wooden beams and dried flowers on the ceiling. It was so beautifully candle lit throughout, providing the perfect ambiance and atmosphere for the day.

The morning after the wedding, myself and my new husband were completely overwhelmed by the feedback from our guests not only about how romantic and beautiful the venue is, but about the food (which was spectacular) and the service which was next to none. We assumed we were the only ones that thought our wedding day was so brilliant :-) But the guest told us that they felt like each and everyone of them were made feel so welcome by the staff , from arriving to the front gates to checking in at reception and the overall service for the remainder of the day(and into the early hours!) Our guests are still talking about the great experience they had, which I have to say we are delighted with, as naturally we had an amazing time also, and feel exactly like our guests.

I cannot recommend the castle enough and look forward to our next vist!

First and foremost, the staff at Barberstown are absolutely fantastic to deal with and I belive they are the real selling point for this venue. I was an absolute stress-ball on the run up to the wedding, wondering if everything I had in my head would work to plan, but I literally didn't have to lift a finger on the day, or even ask anyone to see if everything was going to plan - it's all perfectly coordinated by the wonderful staff who see to every little detail. These guys have at least one wedding pretty much every weekend of the year and their professionalism and expertise shines through - they know what they're doing!!

The food is wonderful, we had so many compliments on the menu, and you have so much room to play around with what drinks and food you can provide your guests with on the day, they are so flexible!

Of course, if you've seen the venue, you'll know it's beautiful and a wonderful place to spend the day. If you're having your ceremony onsite, you literally do not have to leave the building until you want to call it a night. We couldn't have asked for a more romantic venue. It's perfect.

The rooms are very generous in space, spotlessly clean, luxurious and very cosy!

We were married on 5th September 2015 and are so happy with our decision to have our wedding ceremony and reception at Barberstown Castle. Our every need was met with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The staff team were excellent and went a long way to make our wedding day an amazing day!

We met with our main organiser several times and she made great suggestions and recommendations as to how the day would work best. We had a dedicated staff member on the day to make sure everyone was in the right place at the right. The banquet co-ordinator made sure everything was in order for the dining area. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it! The accommodation was beautiful. Our guests are still contacting us praising the venue! We had dinner in the Castle Keep the night before our wedding and it was a huge success too - the setting was great!

If you're planning your wedding - go to Barberstown and see what they do! They won't let you down!

I can't say enough about the staff, each and everyone of them could not do enough for us. We knew we would have nothing to worry about. Every small detail was taken care off. The venue is fab and food was fantastic. I wish we could do it all over again.

My daughter had her reception in Barberstown Castle last July. From the minute we all arrived we were overwhelmed with the hospitality and the whole atmosphere of the venue.The food was more than excellent, everyone of the guests remarked on it and said it was the best wedding they attended for a long time. My daughter and her Husband were very pleased with everything. They are back in Australia but have great memories.

The venue usually set up the function room on Sunday for potential brides/grooms to see the room as it would be on their wedding day. Much better than trying to visualize it in an empty room OR popping by before a wedding party arrives.

The team were extremely helpful and flexible and accommodated all of our requests no matter how bizarre!

It's hard to put into words the truly magical day that we had a Barberstown Castle for our wedding. It was amazing from start to finish, the venue, food, service, staff everything was outstanding quality.

I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue to anyone planning their day. It surpassed all my dreams as to how great it would be even though I knew it was going to be special from the first day we were shown around back in January. Everyone was saying that it was the most beautiful wedding they had been at and a lot of that was down to you all at the venue.

We just wanted to thank you so much for everything running up to and during the wedding. We had the most wonderful day and every single little detail had been taken care of. We knew as soon as we saw Barberstown that we wanted to have our reception with you and as the process of organising it progressed, again and again we realised we had made the best decision. From the outset ye were great for answering all our (often repeated) questions and putting our minds at ease! So many people at our wedding really did say it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and considering a lot of them were into their 70s and had seen a lot of nieces and nephews married off before us, that really is quite something. We continue to receive compliments on the food, the staff and the hotel itself. Those who stayed the night before and had the dinner also seem to be in awe of the quality and standard of food - our sincere compliments to your amazing chef and his fantastic staff!

We hope you all had a great New Year and we know we will be back for a dinner at some point.

Barberstown really is a unique wedding venue and with all of the candles lighting on the day looks magical. The food was superb - my guests are still talking about it and the service was fantastic. "Words can barely describe how grateful we are to the Barberstown Castle team for making July 2nd 2011 as perfect a day as we could have ever imagined. We can have nothing but good words to say from the first interaction via web enquiry to the checkout the morning after our wedding.
Richard was very patient in showing the banquet hall to a few family members who needed to act as our eyes as we were living in the USA.
Gretchen and Eimear sent numerous photos to act as back up for the good reviews we had received. Management were so confident (and rightly so!!) that we would love the venue when we saw it in person that they were willing to work with us on the deposit required to secure the date. After we saw the venue in person we knew we had made the right decision. All subsequent emails and telephone calls were dealt with in a timely and professional manner. Thank you for your patience too as we had many queries!
The wedding day itself can only be described as perfection. The moment we stepped out of the car and on to the red carpet we were greeted by Paddy with a glass of champagne. It can't be easy making more than 200 guests feel that they were very important to the success of the wedding, yet they managed to do it flawlessly. The banquet hall itself was better than we expected the flowers and candles really added to the magical feel. The top table set up makes you feel like a high chief and many of our guests felt the need to bow in jest as they passed us to get to the bar area! The food was amazing and all our guests commented on how much of it there was, many guests had second helpings! The wait staff were phenomenal in how they managed to ensure everyone was served very promptly. The wine kept flowing during dinner and the bar tenders worked tirelessly until the early hours of the morning. The late night barbeque is a lovely add on and it really separates Barberstown's package from the standard sandwiches and tea that you receive at other venues.
The Irish weather decided to play its part which meant that the courtyard and gardens were utilised to their full potential. They are perfect for photo opportunities. We had many travelling from the States and further afield and all commented on how beautifully maintained the gardens were. The accommodation in the castle can only be described as magical, All our guests felt the same way! Four poster beds a plenty! We had block booked every room and nobody was disappointed!
As with many other people who have reviewed your venue, we forgot to pass on our thanks to Paddy on the night in question. The best man found him a pleasure to deal with and no request was too much for him or his team.....so thank you Paddy and please pass on the same to your wonderful team! You all played a criticial role in creating a day and night we will never forget! "

We had an outstanding day on the 30th and cannot thank all the team in Barberstown enough for your professionalism and expertise. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to Paddy (every home should have one!!). As soon as we pulled up to the door and Paddy handed us a glass of champagne, we knew we were in the most capable hands and we did not have one single worry for the rest of the day. He was just fabulous and my only regret is I don't think I conveyed to him on the day what a difference his capable calm nature meant to us.
I think everyone who attended remarked to us about the quality of the food and most people said it was the best meal they have ever had at a wedding. The waiting staff were so effortless in the way they glided around the room and even from the top table, I could see that their professionalism didn't waver once. Once we booked the hotel nearly 2 years ago, we felt very confident that we had made a really good decision but even knowing that, our experience exceeded our expectations. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Castle to anyone thinking of booking and the atmosphere of the room on a chilly December evening is quite simply hard to beat.
