Dublin venues fall broadly into three camps: city-centre hotels and townhouses, suburban hotels and golf resorts, and country houses on the rural edge of the county. City venues win on convenience, with guests able to walk from their accommodation and plenty of it nearby, while venues towards the county edge trade a little travel for space, gardens and a countryside feel.

Two things matter more in Dublin than almost anywhere else: guest accommodation and transport. Check how many rooms a venue has on site and what is nearby, and plan taxis, buses or a coach for guests staying in the city. For a city-centre wedding, ask about parking and noise curfews; for a venue in the hills, confirm how late the bar can run.
