Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links

Unfortunately I cannot give Portmarnock a great review, even though my wedding ended up being brilliant, I was stressed out by the hotel right up to the night before. When we booked our wedding in 2025 we were promised this and that and anything we wanted to add on was no problem at all… then the wedding coordinator changed and everything we asked was a flat out no, prices changed throughout and promises made at the start were not kept. The one saving grace was the wedding team (run by Evan) on the actual wedding day was a great team of people. They knew what they were doing and I’d recommend putting Evan as a wedding coordinator dealing with couples as he had a lot more sense and wherewithal than the girls I was dealing with in the run up to the big day. I had to fight over everything (changing a table plan, cover for musicians outside, can we do the shot bottles (no), everything was an issue for them), I had to tell them when their figures were wrong on a regular basis. They always changed them back but honestly I love numbers so I went through the detail, I know every bride would not do the same. We had our day two here also, for which we were accidentally DOUBLE CHARGED, and was moved out of my bridal suite in the middle of my day two to another room that had no air conditioning with no warning. The money was given back to us the week after when I challenged the figures but I think it’s worth warning anyone getting married here check EVERYTHING. If you want a beautiful wedding this venue has so so much potential, but the staff and stress they brought throughout the process I would not recommend as I was actually quite a relaxed bride. I would not hesitate in recommending Evan and his team and I would ask for him specifically if you were planning on booking your wedding here!!!

Everyone on the Portmarnock Hotel team was outstanding! The wedding and entire time we stayed there was magical. Can’t wait to go back one day!

We had an absolutely amazing wedding at Portmarnock Resort in April 2025. The support we received during the planning and lead up was great, and the operations team on the day were superstars. Everything ran so smoothly.

Our guests haven’t stopped raving about the food quality and the warm, welcoming hospitality they experienced throughout the wedding day and their stays.

We couldn’t recommend Portmarnock Resort highly enough to anyone considering it as a wedding venue!

We had our wedding in Portmarnock Hotel in November 2022. We were initially dealing with a member of staff who left a few months before our wedding which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as her replacement Sophie was just so helpful and obliging. Unfortunately the events people don't work weekends so there was a few clitches on the day (our wedding was on a Sunday). The biggest being that they forgot to set up our drinks reception on arrival which meant when we and our guests arrived at the hotel, there was nothing to eat or drink, there was supposed to be prosecco, tea/coffee, scones and biscuits...they eventually sorted it out and brought the drinks and nibbles out about 45mins after we arrived but it was a bit embarrassing as people where ordering and paying for their own drinks and some where hungry as they'd travelled from the country. For some reason the hotel said they thought we were having our drinks reception after our ceremony which wouldn't make sense as our ceremony was at 430pm and our meal was booked for 6pm after our ceremony...another minor issue was they couldn't get one of our ceremony songs to play during the signing of the registry, so that was done in silence haha...
anyway we got over those things and the rest of the evening ran smoothly and we along with all our guests had a brilliant day overall. It is a beautiful venue and setting for a wedding.

Food was excellent however the level of service provided was very poor on the day. The got the music wrong at the reception between 3-5 and it took 15 mins before this was rectified. They also played the wrong music for the bridal party entrance. The top table was incorrectly set for 12 rather then 14 which delayed the bride and grooms entrance. Not every table got their full menu including starters or wine. They ran out of potatoes and vegetables which meant two tables of 10 guests didn't get any vegetables or potatoes. The bar ran out of gin and vodka at 1:25am. So all in all the level of service wasn't to the standard that was proposed in the hotels original wedding package offering

Had a great wedding here. Venue beautiful. Staff v helpful. Lovely food.

Hi, Just a quick email to say what a wonderful time my fianc? and I had during our stay at the Portmarnock Hotel and golf links. We won the competition a few weeks back and stayed in the hotel on Friday night just gone. The hotel was amazing and for anyone who is looking for a beautiful hotel for a wedding reception I would definitely recommend that they pay the Portmarnock hotel and golf links a visit.
Thanks again!

I want to thank you and all the staff especially Geraldine who was brilliant on the day (20th Aug) everyone was complimenting her to me saying she was great! I couldnt have managed everything without your help, the hotel would be lost without you! All my husbands family (English) said it was the best wedding ever and praised the staff and the hotel as it was the first visit to Ireland and said they will definitely stay in the hotel again on their next visit to Ireland

We had the perfect wedding day-nothing was too much trouble. The staff were attentive and friendly and a special thanks to Jean Bermingham, who was truly wonderful from the moment we decided to have our wedding reception in Portmarnock. Eddie was also great and couldn't do enough for us on the big day.The food was delicious and so many of our guests were pleasantly surprised by the quality of it. The location is ideal, the bedrooms spacious and clean and the atmosphere wonderful! Thanks again for everything. I would highly recommend the hotel to any engaged couples out there!

Tobin & Dargan wedding 25th May 2009

Dear Alison,
We both wanted to contact you to pass on our genuine and sincere thanks to you for your constant hard-work, advice, good humour and patience with us over the 7 months of our wedding planning.
What can we say; it was better than we dared to hope! The whole venue made all of our guests, most of whom were staying in the hotel for 2 nights, feel like they were on a wonderful mini beach holiday! They all raved about their rooms and I can honestly say there wasn't a single complaint from anyone on any level. The quality of the entire experience, from the day of the wedding fair, from how kind you were to me every time I called from London in a panic, through your relaxed and calm organisation of every detail as the day approached (anything I thought of you'd already covered!) right up to your warm welcome when we arrived for the reception, made this a day without any nasty experiences, unpleasant surprises, disappointments or upset. The foreign guests had a beautiful introduction to Ireland and many of the others maybe had an equally impressive new look at Dublin.
You exceeded our expectations on every level and we were so proud to have all our friends and family treated so well throughout the day. It was my dream to come home to get married where I have so many lovely memories and both Mark and I really will always treasure the stress-free and utterly fun day and night that you and your team facilitated. We'll never forget all that you did for us!
We've had lots of our guests contact us since we got back to London to say just how enjoyable it all was. Many remarked that they were extremely impressed with the Portmarnock, 'the best wedding reception [they had]attended', and intend going back for a break themselves. The food was really fabulous and the team on the day anticipated our every need looking after us with a smile that was typical of your own friendly 'no-problem' attitude. The service was attentive, discreet and flawless. As for the honeymoon suite...we didn't want to leave!
We really cannot recommend the Portmarnock Hotel highly enough- our wedding was literally the best day of our lives, you did us proud! I wonder if you realise just how much your excellence means to a couple?
Sincere thanks and the best of luck for the future- we'll be back for our delayed honeymoon!
Kind Regards always,

We had our wedding in the Portmarnock Hotel & Links in April 2009. The hotel management and staff did a fantastic job during the planning and on our wedding day. Their professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail helped make the day really special for us both. The food was superb, the atmosphere was relaxed and we didn't have to worry about any of the details during the reception. I would highly recommend this hotel for hosting your wedding reception.
Kind rgds
