A Wonderful Winter Wedding

Décor & Flowers

Everyone loves a winter wedding. Whether it’s an intimate affair by an open fire or a big New Years Eve bash at a trendy venue, guests will be happy for a reason to get out of the house and celebrate your big day. But don’t fall victim to cliché holiday themes and colours, think outside the box and give your guests a winter wedding wonderland!

Trend  1 The Winter Cocktail

Spruce up your champagne reception or cocktail hour by serving wintery themed drinks. Add flavours like peppermint, cranberry or cinnamon to your cocktail choices and name them after your favourite holiday songs. Or try serving a hot beverage like Bailey’s hot chocolate in adorable mugs or spiced mulled wine.

Trend 2 Pressie Favours

Give your guests little boxes tied in ribbon, like a Christmas present, full of roasted chestnuts, chocolates, minced pies or another holiday treat.

Trend 3 Avant-garde Music

Add a holiday twist to your entertainment by having a talented group of carollers for part of your reception or cocktail hour or if you are not into the Christmas thing, try hiring an acapella quartet to sing some classic pop or jazz hits, it will add a fun and warm vibe to your event.

Trend 4 Snowy Honeymoons

Instead of travelling across the world to find sun this winter, why not make the short hop to Europe and cosy up in a chalet or cabin in the mountains? Skiing holidays are some of the most romantic breaks, not to mention some of the world’s most stunning hotels and resorts are nestled in snow covered mountains. Most ski resorts are next to adorable little towns with bustling nightlife and amazing restaurants.

Trend 5 Topiary Designs

Topiary designs are the trendiest wedding decor for winter weddings. If you are looking for a way to break up or divide a large reception room, try using potted trees or bushes as dividers. If you get a tall vase and collect long branches from your garden or nearest park, you can create DIY chic centrepieces.  You can go as elaborate as you want on your tree creation, by hanging bobbles, lights or small flowers on the branches. You could also add a personal touch by placing an empty tree near your guest book, asking guests to write tips or advice and hang it on the tree.

Trend 6 White Flowers

Even without snow, you can still create the winter wonderland by having snowy white flowers for your bridal party, bridal bouquet and centrepieces. It is a small way to bring the season into your big day. If you have an unlimited budget, try renting a snow machine and wowing your guests with a real white wedding!

Trend 7 All that Sparkles

Gemstones, sparkles and glittery accents are the fashion must-haves this winter. Find a diamante sash or borrow a vintage brooch from your grandmother to attain this look. For a more subtle sparkle, wear a tasteful cocktail ring or gemstone clip in your hair.
