We met… in 2000, when I was in First Year and Philip was in Second Year in the FCJ Secondary School in Bunclody, Co. Wexford and romance blossomed until we began dating officially in 6th year in school.
Our proposal… We were on holidays in Thailand. We went to this tiny island called Koh Tao, which was so beautiful and relaxing. After two proposal attempts, Philip brought me to a really fancy open air restaurant on the island which was on a hill and you could see the fireworks on the beach during dinner. He was extremely nervous and I just thought he was being weird and not himself for the last couple of days! After dinner, we walked down to the beach and Philip got down on one knee and proposed! I was completely surprised. We were meant to stay in Bangkok for the last four nights of our holidays, but Philip had booked new flights for us to fly from Thailand to Dubai to pick out my engagement ring. We didn’t tell anyone about the engagement until we arrived back in Dublin airport as we wanted to tell our family and friends face to face and it was also lovely to have that little bubble of just us for a few days.
My dress… was called “Cynthia” by Maggie Sottero. I purchased it from B Couture Bridal Boutique in Arklow, Co. Wicklow. Bernie and all the staff in the shop were so helpful and nice to deal with. They did all the alterations and stored the dress until I was ready to pick it up. I would highly recommend them. I absolutely loved my dress and it was so comfortable on the day!
Our ceremony… was held in St. Patrick’s Church, Monageer, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. My neighbour Helen Rath decorated the church and the candles were by Crafty Candles, Dublin. Alison Doyle was the vocalist and she was accompanied by The Musix Factor.
My favourite part of the wedding day… was everything! It is so hard to pick one moment. The ceremony was so special and even extra special because one of my best friends sang at our wedding.
To Insight Photography… Thank you so much for our beautiful wedding photographs! It is so difficult to pick the photos for the album because there are so many great photos. Both Philip and I can honestly say that you are AMAZING at your job! You were so relaxed and in turn made us feel so comfortable. You guided us through the day and your attention to detail is fantastic, everyone was blown away by the photos and the slideshow on the night! The slideshow took everyone by surprise, it was a real treat and it was really so beautiful! Everyone has been talking about it and said how original it was! We would highly recommend you to anyone we know!
My piece of advice for other brides… is get up an hour before you had planned on getting up! The day goes so fast and even if you think you have plenty of time to get ready, the morning flies and it’s so much fun you lose track of time. Enjoy every moment of it because it really is the fastest day of your life!
