1. Choose the perfect setting

Many couples will know instantly where they’d like the first look to take place, it may be in their garden, at the venue or even in the spot the all important question was popped. Talk to your photographer about your options, you want to spot to have great lighting and not too much happening in the background.

2. Bring your flowers

Even if you don’t hold them for the actual moment, be sure to bring your bouquet with you as it’s likely your photographer will want to capture some bridal portraits after the initial moment. Your bouquet will complete the entire look.

3. Keep your location secret

Your first look will be a very private and emotional moment so keep the location to yourself! It’s one of the only moments of the day that you will be truly alone with your special person so keep it that way, you don’t need spectators hiding in the bushes!

4. Keep your veil for the ceremony

Believe us, add a little wind to the morning and you’ll end up with your other half wrapped up in a fly-away veil! Leave it for the special moment walking down the aisle.

5. Make it natural

If the tears come, let them. Let yourself truly feel all the emotions and cherish this amazing moment. Embrace how you feel and go with it, your photos will be all the better for it.

6. Forget your photographer and videographer are there

It might feel a little awkward but if you’ve chosen the right suppliers for you, you’ll forget all about them capturing the moment.

7. Don’t rush it

Even if the morning prep has taken longer than expected, don’t rush this moment. Hold your hug, spend a moment having a chat about how you are feeling and remember you enjoy it before the haziness of your wedding day begins.
