When marine engineer, Daithi, and volunteer councilor, Rachael decided to get married, theirs was to be a simple Druid wedding at An Rath, a fairy fort in The Burren. With rain clouds above, we love how this couple managed to pull off their unique wedding with bucket loads of style! With thanks to Mrs RedHead Photography for sharing this wedding with us.
Clare native, Daithi, and British Rachael originally met while working on a super yacht in Seychelles. It was love at first sight as the Daithi was to go down on one knee exactly one year later, during a picnic on Mount Tibidabo, overlooking Barcelona. The couple now live in Maui, Hawaii.
While planning their wedding, Rachel credits simplicity as key, with friends and family helping out where they could.
“We had a lot of support from the community. And we chose to keep it simple, no micromanaging! We allowed artistic freedom in all aspects.”
“Dad and I arrived an hour early for the ceremony, so we decided to head on to the nearest town for a beverage. The town we happened upon was Lisdoonvarna… right in the middle of the match making festival! We were quite a sight in a wedding dress and suit. Causing a flutter, we were treated to drinks on the house!”
Groom’s favourite memory:
“Watching the clouds part, as the bride finally arrived, an hour late!”
Bride’s favourite moment:
“Walking through the opening of trees and seeing my husband standing before me with a huge smile on his face.”
Bride’s advice:
“Try not to get caught up in silly details. The day will fly by. Yes, every bride will tell you this, but it is so true! So the best advise I can give is to enjoy the ride!”
