Your Guide To Wedding Lawn Games

Entertainment, Inspiration

I love it when couples go out of their way to entertain their guests! There are plenty of ways to keep guests happy and in good spirits – food and drinks being two of them. Another option is to incorporate lawn games into your festivities!

What’s all the hype about?

Wedding lawn games are a brilliant way to break the ice between guests who don’t know one another and to provide entertainment during pre-reception drinks. If you’re getting married in the summer sun, you could bring out the lawn games while guests are enjoying cocktails and canapés!

I always recommend that couples consider what pre-reception drinks will be like for guests. Often we can get caught up in taking wedding party photos and couple’s portraits and we forget that the rest of the guests will be hanging out too!

Will wedding lawn games work for your Big Day?

Wondering if you should include lawn games in your wedding? Here are some questions you can ask which will help you figure it out:

Is there space? You’ll need to have enough space for the games, as well as plenty of extra space for those who aren’t playing along. Guests who are simply sitting and chatting won’t want to be subject to the dangers of a rogue beanbag!

Will there be an outdoor space? Lawn games fit in perfectly with a wedding venue that includes an outdoor space. If you aren’t sure, check with your wedding venue to make sure that the outdoor spaces you have spotted are included in your venue hire fee.

What games are already available to you? Do you already have some games that you could bring? Or do you have friends who own lawn games that you could borrow?

Where to find lawn games

Hire them – Take a look at the weddingsonline Service Finder to see where you can hire games and activities!

Shop secondhand – Charity shops are a great way to find games at a good price. The only downside is that you’ll have to find somewhere to store them after the wedding.

DIY – If you’ve got time and you’re into DIY projects, why not make your own ring toss with wine bottles?
