Alter Servers

Postby Walla12 » Fri Feb 17, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi

I was just wondering do you need Alter Servers for the day of your wedding, not sure if we do or not? We don't have anyone from ourselves to do it.

We didn't and it was never raised by the priest to be honest. That said, we got married on a Thursday and presumably the children who act as alter servers would have been at school. The sacristan carried out the duties required of the alter server and the parish asked for a donation of €50 to cover this which we were happy to pay.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. As anyone else had more experiences with having Alter Services or not?

We had them but it was just to help my uncle who was the priest and hadn't done a wedding in 5yrs. If the priest is happy to go without, no need
