Extremely disappointed with this service and would advise against booking them. I booked and paid ?700 for 2 musicians to play for 3 hours on day 2 of our wedding. The agent insisted that this was paid in advance. The musicians played for only 2 hours and then informed me that they were already booked for that evening and could not stay later. They let me know that out of the ?700 they were receiving only ?100 each. When I contacted the booking agent the next day..he replied in the first instance "see terms". He then said that "no musicians would play 3 hours for the bargain price that I got them for". The whole experience was extremely upsetting and embarrassing for us on the second day of our wedding. The musicians themselves were very embarrassed when they learned how much we had paid and that they were supposed to be there for 3 hours so they kindly played on for another 20 minutes. Also while the t&cs allowed for it, the musicians which were sent were different to those we had booked and played completely different instruments and did not sing, which was something we had specifically requested. Cannot recommend strongly enough that you stay away from this booking agent.

The musicians were fantastic and really great fun. They got everyone dancing with a ceili, and led everyone through the steps with good humour! Can't fault their musical skills at all, it was exactly the style we were going for! Cracking traditional Irish tunes.
Our whole evening was running really late so we didn't have them play for as long as we'd hoped, but it's completely understandable as they were only booked until a certain time.
The communication was a little mixed, though. We had booked a four-person band (specifically because our venue was quite a large space with difficult acoustics) but it turns out that means 2-3 people with 1-2 in reserve to swap out between sets. I don't think that's quite the same thing and this wasn't communicated to us. Still, it didn't spoil the evening, everyone had a great time, and this is no reflection at all on the quality of the band itself. On the plus side, they were really flexible about our requirements and happy to discuss what we wanted ahead of time. I would still recommend them despite these minor issues, and the price is lower than many other bands.

A massive thank you to everyone who performed at the Gala dinner at the Royal Marine on September 15th - the audience were blown away by the dancers and musicians. The dance floor was full from the time the band started and it just continued as the DJ came on - her leading the line dancing was a particular favourite moment. It was a testament to her ability that the dance floor was full right up to the last dance !

Pierre and myself would like to thank you and the gang (soprano, musicians, irish dancers and dj) for making our day so perfectly brilliant! We weren't quite sure at first if the French gang would get into the mood or join in easily, we thought it might take them a while but you worked your magic and we couldn't get them off the dance floor in the end! Our guests had an absolute ball and are bound to remember our wedding. They were all mesmerised by the soprano and I have to say so were we! She was everything we dreamed of for our big day! You guys are true professionals, you know what you're doing and that helped things to run smoothly and naturally from start to end. Thank you so so much for making our magical day so perfect!

Dublin City Folk were a fantastic addition to our event. Clem was very quick to respond and attend to our needs to make sure everything ran smooth on the night. The music was lively and traditional and they had everybody joining in and up dancing. They even allowed one of our guests to sing a song with them on the night. Everybody commented on how much they loved the music, would highly recommend. Extremely professional and great price too.

This Band are first class. Dublin City Folk Band played at a small and intimate venue at which 30 guests were present. The celebration simply would not have been a success without them. Guests from both sides of the Wedding Party who were initially shy about mingling fast became friends as they were gently and expertly encouraged by the Band to gather, to dance and not long after all wanted to participate in the singing and dancing. We were pleased to hear a variety of music played and/or sung with expertise, precision and enthusiasm ranging from traditional Irish Ballads, Ceili Music and a good helping of whatever the guests wanted, even blues, country, sing-along and easy listening etc. We were encouraged to submit requests. I suspect this Band could play any music asked of them and for us guests and for the Wedding Party it meant a very personal and unique experience.

Dublin city folk were a brilliant addition to our big day. We went for the ceili band option after our meal - and that certainly got everyone up on the dance floor!
Clem was so fast on the email and great at answering our queries.

I wanted to say a big thank you for your bands incredible performance throughout the whole day at my sisters wedding in August. The music was brilliant and I think it was obvious that everyone thought so too, judging from the numbers that were up dancing for the c?il? part of the show. It was truly a great show from beginning to end and I include the Riverdance dancers who were spectacular! From the very first the dance floor was packed and that was so nice for us to see as this was something that we had worried about before the wedding day. Also we would like to thank the Soprano who sang in the Church. She was so amazing. We were just looking at some of the photos taken during the c?il? and it was great to see photos of relatives dancing whom we never thought would take to the floor!!

We wanted a "one stop shop" so to speak with our Musical Entertainment for our big day and we loved the fact that Dublin City Folk provided all we needed form start to finish ...
Even though we were having a simple Registry Office Ceremony I liked the idea of a Soprano for a couple of songs and we choose a Guitar and Fiddle from the options Clem gave us.
They were truly superb and a couple of other Musicians joined them for the Drinks Reception and Evening Reception - we had Guests from the States and France so we wanted to include a Celil which was great fun and everyone loved it - Natalie our Ceili Caller knew how to get everyone on the dance floor and people are still commenting on it ... The Band played a huge variation of traditional music as well as the classics and chart hits before a DJ finished the night for us.
I would have no hesitation in saying that if we were to do it all again ( I would love to get to wear my dress again !!) we would re book Dublin City Folk for sure - thanks again Guys for being part of our special day

What can I say about the Dublin City Folk ceili band and caller you provided for our wedding? Excellent, amazing, brilliant! The band were fantastic and the caller had young and old up getting involved and enjoying the dances. The caller was very clear with her instructions, patient with the unsure of foot and brave to be in the middle of a melee of wedding guests! I would highly recommend these guys. Hi City Folk, sorry for delay in coming back to you - a big thanks to you all for a great day & night, our Family and Guests had a great time- some of our Friends have been asking for the name of our Band and they can't believe how reasonably priced you are in comparison to other Bands.We especially want to mention Judith the Soprano who was just excellent in the Church and sang all the songs we wanted.Tim was exceptional on the Uileann Pipes and fiddle and also played classical pieces on the Organ in the Church - really brilliant !! Tommy and Clem played during the drinks reception - some lovely French, Italian and classic nostalgic tunes form films that everyone knew.Later that evening the Riverdance Dancers put on a jaw dropping exhibition ! It drew everyone in form the bar - you Guys are so experienced at what you do and it works professionally and each part sequins into each other. One of the fun
highlights had to be the Ceili and the girl who called the dances (can't recall her name) had everyone up for the Paul Jones which was such a laugh !! You were so versatile with rock & roll, folk , trad and great dance music also. Really want to recommend you to other couples ...

Saw Dublin City Folk at a Friend's Wedding last year and we booked them on the night for our own Wedding earlier this year.
We met Clem from the Band in Clontarf Castle a couple of times to go through everything thoroughly before our big day as we wanted to ensure variety as we had booked the full package including Church, Drinks Reception, Evening Reception and Professional DJ.
Every aspect of their performance was second to none - we had looked at other similar Bands but are so delighted we chose Dublin City Folk because of their variety, professionalism and not least the incredible value for money !

I would highly recommend Dublin City Folk to anyone looking for great traditional music for their wedding. We booked them for the church and drinks reception . From my initial enquiry with Clem they we are so helpful and professional and he was great at advising on what would work. The music in the church really set the tone for the mass which was what I wanted. They were able to learn and perform some of our favourite pieces of music from movies such as The Secret Wedding from Braveheart which I walked up the aisle to and other instrumental pieces from lord of the rings movie. At the drinks reception they really got the party started. We opted to have some irish dances which were really great it was that something special that no one was expecting, I still have friends and family who talk about how good they were. Overall they were great to deal with and so talented at what they do. I found them to be very helpful and professional and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to future couples.

We wanted to get a really good band at a competitive price (not easy to do!) and we found the right one in City Folk. They performed at our drinks reception and put on a great show later on with a ceili and Riverdance dancers. We used the dry dock bar for the dancing and it worked a treat. We can?t speak too highly of the band. They also supplied a great dj well into the early hours of the morning?and all at a great price without any sacrifice in quality.

Dublin City Folk played music for the day after our wedding in Conway's Bar in Blackrock. We wanted to create a real traditional Irish pub atmosphere for our guests who were from different parts of the world. The entire pub was rocking and our guests had a great time. Dublin City Folk played for the full day for our wedding service in Carton House. The day began in Lady Chapel Church in Maynooth. Their soprano began with a brilliant rendition of Nella Fantasia. The day went on from there with varied traditional music on different instruments for the drinks reception. Their music was exceptionally good throughout with top quality playing on the uileann pipes and banjo, and fiddle music as well.Then at night came the ceili and dancing and great music and singing from the band. We can't recommend them highly enough.

Some people told us we were taking a risk having not seen you perform but we were confident everything would be fine and how right we were. Throughout the whole day we received praise on our choice of entertainment. The church music was perfect, the pre reception was perfect, the ceili's were perfect, all the music was perfect. And the dj you organised did such a great job too. There we're sore feet all round the following morn. We planned our wedding for over a year and while there were some areas which gave us a headache, dealing with yourself was such a weight off. The music for the Church was also very special and their help with the selection of songs for the ceremony was spot on. Great banjo playing and great singing and flute playing by Dublin City Folk All Ireland champion musicians made our weddinga great evenings entertainment. We wanted a band that could play Scottish ceili dances as well as Irish ceili and traditional Irish music with songs. City Folk did not disappoint. They are a very polished band. They got us all up dancing and made the day a great occasion. They also provided a great DJ who kept the atmosphere going late into the night. Our guests had a great time and so did we!!

Hi Clem, Rob & I can't thank you and Dublin City Folk enough for playing at our wedding on Fri 18th May. The music played at the ceremony was perfect, the drinks reception got everyone going and the main function absolutely superb. From our first dance to the final song played by the DJ at the end of the night, the dance floor was never empty. The ceili was great craic and the hokey cokey a winner for all ages. The dancers were excellent & very professional & the ceili caller an expert. The band outstanding and the DJ knew exactly what to play to get the crowd going.. the impromptu "Riverdance" performance by some guests will be a talking point for a long time ( i just hope the DJ gets over the shock !!) :) All of our guests have told us they had an amazing day and can't say enough about the entertainment. As for Rob & I, we had the perfect day, full of fun and great craic and for that we say a massive big thank you!! Thanks again and all the best!

Hi Guys and Marie - Just to thank you very much for performing at our wedding. It was brilliant for the whole day. Your Soprano Marie Delaney was marvellous and a great complement to the classical trad music by O Carolan and O Riada that you played at the Church. It really made for a dignified service. The drinks reception was also excellent and just the right balance between fun and ambiance music. As for the ceili and trad and folk ballads and popular music at night it was fantastic as was the professional dj afterwards. And great value for money!!! Can't thank you enough guys.

Dublin City Folk band provided great music for our Church service, drinks reception and main function all at a great price. They also provided a super professional DJ who played until the very end of the night at no extra charge. For our Church service they provided a marvellous selection of classical traditional music from O Carolan to Planxty and Liam o Flynn and used a wide range of traditional instruments. Our guests were enthralled at the drinks reception by their brilliant playing. At night there was a fantastic ceili with great dancers demonstrating and envolving our guests as well as great trad music and singing. Really cannot recommend them highly enough. They came well recommended and they did not disappoint.

Natalie and John, Mills Inn Macroom
Dublin City folk played at our church wedding in Ballyvornig Church in West Cork. Then they came to Macroom and played for our drinks reception and main function. Their soprano Maria was superb and the band were great as was the ceili. We were worried as we did not live in Ireland but City Folk allayed all our fears and did a great job. We would highly recommend them to any couple getting married from abroad and trying to find a great band in Ireland at a reasonable cost.

Just a note to say thank you so much for the legendary performance at our wedding in Beleek Castle in Ballina Co. Mayo in May 2008. It's still talked about as one of the most entertaining, brilliant and quirky receptions that people had ever been to. The music and the ceili meant that both the irish and americans, of all ages, joined in and really let loose for the evening. From the waltzes, ceili songs, the ballads to the 'hokey pokey' people couldnt get enough! Dublin city folk's charm, punctuality, and effortless liaising back and forth with us in the weeks leading up to the wedding and excellent price took a huge amount of stress off us. Brilliant all round. You are a very unique group with a talent to energise an audience. We are so glad we didn't go for the cookie cutter run of the mill wedding band. The music and the ceili reflected us so much better and you did us proud! Thanks for making the day so memorable

The Dublin City Folk Band played at our wedding on the 12th of May 2007 in the Westin Hotel, Dublin. They were absolutely super. The entire show was great and their masters of ceremonies -teacher of the dances - got everyone up dancing for a ceili session which everyone enjoyed. Perhaps the best recommendation we could give was that at least two couples at the wedding booked the band for their future weddings.

The Dublin City Folk Music Agency provided a fantastic days entertainment in the Adare Manor where we held our wedding on 14th April 2007. This top class show had everyone up dancing and their professional caller of dances did a fantastic job in explaining and calling the jigs and reels and other dances that everyone could do. But best of all was the all-in show with dancers and band and a comedian which was truly a dazzling occasion with so much on offer. Definitely highly recommended.

Turned up to our venue with a cd player and held a microphone to it to amplify the music, terrible sound quality.
We were promised 2 musicians but only one turned up with another person just using the cf player.
We had agreed numerous songs with Clement beforehand but when we asked for these on the night, Claire said to us that Clement didn't pass on any songs and she didn't know the ones we requested..they were very popular songs!
We contacted Clem afterwards, he was very defensive, aggressive and rude. Told me that the price I paid was very cheap for their services. I paid the price they quoted and didn't bargain with them, unfortunately you have to pay in advance too.
My best advice to you....stay well clear of these guys!
