At Thomas Sunderland Photography, we believe your wedding photography should feel effortless, personal, and full of joy. As a family-run studio in the heart of Carlow town for over 25 years, we’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories — always with care, creativity, and a genuine passion for what we do.
From the moment you get in touch, you’ll be looked after every step of the way.
Isobel will guide you through your first enquiries and consultation. Thomas, your photographer, will be by your side on the day itself — keeping things relaxed while capturing every special moment — and later helping you choose the images that tell your story best. Finally, David will design your wedding album, bringing the whole day together in a beautifully curated layout.
Our complete wedding photography packages start from €1800, and every package includes a beautifully designed wedding album — because holding your story in a handcrafted book is an experience no screen of digital images can ever compare to.

What can I say. Thomas was absolutely amazing. He is so relaxed, funny and perfect at guiding you through the hectic morning and day of chaos that is your wedding day. My dad has ahlzheimers and Thomas was so patient with him and so understanding and got the most perfect pictures that I will always cherish. He was great with our kids aswell the girls loved him. He gave lots of time to both myself and Luke and the album he created for us after was unreal. I have had many compliments on how no one has seen an album like it before. You will not regret booking Thomas, he is worth every penny and will make sure he has the most beautiful pictures to capture every moment.

Thomas was an absolute joy to have as our wedding photographer! He brings so much energy and fun to the day while staying focused on capturing all the special moments perfectly. Not only did he make everyone feel at ease, but he also has a fantastic eye for detail. From start to finish, Thomas just 'gets the job done' with professionalism and a great sense of humour. Highly recommend him for any wedding.

From the first day we met with Thomas for our wedding he was a true professional and answered any questions we had, we had an engagement shoot - which I would recommend anyone to do - this put us at ease in front of the camera and helped us to get to know Thomas. On the day of our wedding, Thomas was great and captured moments that we wouldnt have seen, he is open to ideas - I got some great natural photos in a field of corn!! When we came back from our honeymoon we had the task of picking out the photos for our album, while we had our own ideas we were also guided by Thomas? years of experience, this resulted in a top notch photo album and something we will treasure for many years to come.

We had the honour of having this brilliant photographer on our very special day. It may have seemed hasty to some, and definitely not what he was accustomed to for a wedding party, but since we were visiting home we simply couldn't but try to organise our happy day (within a couple of months). The proposal very genuinely took me by surprise and having our visit home booked long before that, we thought we'd try (in spite of it being very unlikely) planning our day, since all our nearest and dearest are together in ~one place for the first time in a while. Living and working in Melbourne added to the list of possible obstacles to overcome, but Thomas made it easy. And it could not have been scripted more perfectly, with the important key factors aligning, Thomas amongst them, we had a photographer that went above and beyond to capture every moment we hoped for, and more.
A pleasure to share our day with, he made it all so very easy. He was a true professional, from skype conversations to meeting only the day before our wedding (thanks again to our jam packed schedule), and the hustle and bustle of our wedding morning, not to mention keeping a keen eye on the clock throughout the day (thinking about it now we must have stressed him out no end, being chilled and happy chatting and catching up with everyone). He spent the entire day snapping and capturing special moments for both families, the importance of which is immeasurable now. Not only this, but the time he spent beforehand and then again with us afterwards, on the selections etc. was so impressive, and at such a busy time of year for families. We honestly struck it lucky with having such a professional who catered for our every possible whim. And at such a distance, within such a short time-frame, he was amazing. He was definitely meant to be, given our particular circumstances.
Thanks so much, Thomas et al. Your cheerful professionalism, eye for detail, and efficiency was superb. You have captured the detail spectacularly. We'll definitely look for you for future occasions. Bravo, TS.

Thomas is amazing!!! We didn't even know he was there most of the day. He is so calm, he made us feel so relaxed and we had so much fun with him.We went last week to look at the photos, I was kind of worried because I didn't remember alot of pics being taken so I thought we wouldn't have enough for an album but we had 100's. I wanted them all in the album!!! Thomas is so talented and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Can't wait to get our album and show it off.

It is with great pleasure that I write this review of Thomas Sunderland Photography. Where do I begin? Over the last 10 years I have seen a number of Thomas's photo albums that he has created for many of my family and friends. Each one was personalised and unique and really captured the couple. I knew years ago before I had ever gotten engaged that he would be my photographer of choice.
We had our engagement shoot with Thomas in April 2014. To say I was nervous on arrival is an understatement. But within minutes, we were both relaxed and enjoyed the entire process. We discussed that we were having our wedding in Malta and Thomas suggested that he might travel with us. We thought about it that night and we both agreed that we would love to have him travel with us for our special day. If we were to have our wedding in Ireland, he would have been our first and only choice.
Thomas and I met on a number of occasions prior to the wedding to discuss potential photo locations in Malta and how we would co-ordinate the trip. We were lucky that Thomas spent 5 days with us on the island. In this time, we really got to know him as a person. He was no longer just a wedding supplier, but a big part of our wedding party. On the day, he helped co-ordinate everything to perfection. One minute he was eating dinner, the next he was standing on chairs taking photographs. Thomas captured 1000s of pictures for us on the day. The guests commented on his laid back approach and how good he was at organising everybody.
I could spend hours here writing. The quality of service and professionalism provided by Thomas was exceptional. Our guests, 8 months after the wedding are still talking about him. And what's best is the quality of the wedding album that we were provided it. It perfectly captures the fun and emotion of our day.

Emma and Alvin
Myself and the hubby got married in Sep 2010. We wanted a photographer who would capture us, and not just the typical posed photos. As we were having our reception in Mount Wolseley we also wanted someone who knew the place and where the best photos would be taken. When we first met Tom he made us so relaxed. The craic and laughing was from the word go. He made the day and the photos such a memorable fun filled part of the day. I don't often recommend anyone or anything but I would recommend Tom in a heartbeat. Thanks Tom for the very special memories you have given us. Emma and Alvin.
