The Great Southern, Killarney

Just Wow! Everything was phenomenal from start to finish - the hotel, the staff, the service, the food! Out of this world! The railway cottage is amazing for the bridal party to stay and get ready in & the rooms at the hotel are fabulous also! We had the best day & a great few days celebrating in Killarney! We are so happy that we chose the Great Southern for our wedding - Everything was amazing! Can't wait to visit again!

We had the most amazing weekend. The entire staff were so professional, nothing was ever too much. They go above and beyond for you. All our guests were so impressed.

I really don't know where to start with the praise and thanks that the staff at the Great Southern deserve. We had the most magical and perfect day from start to finish. We like alot of other couples had postponed due to Covid so this was 3rd time lucky. Denise and her team could not have been more accomadating with all the swaping and changing and remained super calm even though it was such a stressfull time. We had the most AMAZING day and everyone to this day almost 7 weeks later are still speaking about the day and how amazing the staff, food accomadation and overall everything was just PERFECT! We were treated like royalty, everyone in this hotel could not have been more helpful. Sean at the front door what a gent of a man and a bit of craic also. He was so good to us with moving luggage and just in general was there if we needed anything, and no matter how busy he got he always had a smile on his face. Super super guy! The drinks reception, dinner, late night food all out of this world and everyone was talking about how beautiful it was. Stephen who was just Amazing at our dinner had everything run so smoothly on the evening and kept on top of everything for us and was bang on time for everything we had planned. Everything went just so perfect. Denise, Jillian,Katie, Stephen just to name a few of the super team in the Great Southern thank you all for the huge help you gave us on the lead up to our big day and on the day itself. We are so thrilled and happy with the wedding day and celebrations we had at The Great Southern, there is not 1 think I can fault. I don't think any of our friends and family wanted to leave the hotel it was unbelievable. It really was a fairytale day from start to finish. Thank you both so much and we cannot wait to come and visit again soon. xx

They Venue were fantastic. The wedding team were at hand for everything, couldn’t have asked for a better team on the day. Nothing was a bother.

We cannot recommend or thank The Great Southern enough. They went above and beyond to make our wedding day so special. We had the best experience in the run up to the wedding even though we were dealing with lockdowns and covid-19. We were delighted to have 100 guests on the day. Gillan, Denise and Katie were fantastic to deal with.

We got married in August 2020 and from the very first day, I contacted them they were nothing but professional and extremely easy to deal with. The Great Southerns' reputation precedes them but, it still exceeded my expectations. Every email was answered promptly. When the question couldn't be answered straight away, they would get back to me. Obviously, due to Covid things were changing on a week to week basis but I was always kept in the loop and up to date with protocols and I was never chasing them for answers. The organisation should have been very stressful with the constantly changing guidelines but Rachel dealt with everything for me so that we had no stress. We had a lovely evening doing the menu tasting and in the few weeks leading up to the wedding and met the night manager Stephen who put us all at ease about how everything would run on the big day. There is a reason they have so many weddings there; they are extremely good at what they do. Everyone commented on how good the food was- all of the steaks were cooked to perfection, the glasses were never empty! The service was just out of this world! Rachel looked after us so well and Jillian was amazing at organising the timing for all the food and organised cake into boxes for guests who were leaving early! We had an absolutely amazing day and there's nothing I could fault, even weeks later looking back. I would no hesitation recommending the Great Southern for a wedding! Just amazing..can’t say enough about the hotel! They were so accommodating to us and went above and beyond on the day and in the lead up to to the wedding.Nothing was too much of an inconvenience everything was perfect on the day! Denise the wedding planner was absolutely fantastic, myself and my Husband were extremely laid back about our wedding and Denise didn't place any pressure on us. She just helped every step of the way. All the staff in the great southern were fabulous, from the cleaners to the bar staff to the wait staff. Both our families were raving about the service they recieved, on how professional the hotel was and what a beautiful setting it was. Myself and my Husband were delighted to have our wedding in the Great Southern

We could not recommend this hotel more for your wedding. The building itself is beautiful and is the perfect setting for a magical wedding. Denise helped us so much in tailoring what we wanted and did so much in making our day as special as possible. The food and service on the day was top quality and everything ran smoothly and professionally.This venue offers the best of old charming hotel mixed with excellent staff giving you the confidence of a perfect day. Absolutely love the Great Southern. I have not stopped recommending this hotel and the service you offer to my friends who are engaged. My own parents are raving about the quality of service i.e food, attention to detail, the room, etc etc If I was to give any criticism it would be nice if you could include a free night on the 1st anniversary (a lot of hotels offer this) and so its a pity its not offered as its not cheap organising a wedding so this would be a nice touch for your future bride and grooms.

We got married in The Malton Hotel on the 30th of December 2016. Since we booked The Malton they have been extremely helpful. They were always at the end of the phone/computer ready to answer any questions or requests we had. We were very happy with our tasting that we had prior to the wedding but the food on the day far surpassed our expectations. Everyone was delighted with the meal. The staff were friendly while remaining professional. Madeline was excellent on the night helping us organise ourselves and ensured the night ran smoothly. We could not have asked for any better. Have to mention as well that a family member's child was sick on the night with tonsilitis and they told us the following day that the hotel went above and beyond to help them which I thought was way above what was expected of them. Thank you so much for an unforgettable day & night.

From the moment we met Madeline in the hotel she couldn't have been more helpful. Weather it was an email with ridiculous questions or meeting with us for an hr to talk things over there was no problem. On the day it self everything was perfect, all the waiters, reception staff bar staff etc where brilliant. The food was amazing, the room was beautiful and the attention to detail was second to none. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Thanks to all at the malton for making our day so great.

We found all of the staff in the Malton to be extremely helpful and friendly. All of our guests were very impressed with the decor, food and service as we were. The run up to the wedding was very easy for us as Denise and Madeleine were always on hand to help with anything we needed. I would highly recommend this venue. The location is also amazing. We came from Dublin so the Malton was ideal as anyone who felt like not driving could just jump on the train.

I found the wedding planners there to be so helpful. We were planning our wedding from abroad and they couldn't have done more to help us arrange everything we wanted. The wedding packages offer good value for money and the food was of a very high standard - something which many of our guests commented on, they were amazed that their steaks were cooked to their liking. Not an easy task for 200 people. The reception area looked great and the staff on duty for our wedding were so nice and accomodating. They really made our guests so welcome. We also got ready in the hotel in the bridal suite which is beautiful, vintage decor and with a separate living area it was perfect if you have a big bridal party. We were extremely pleased with the photos. The photographer took photos using the hotel as a backdrop also which in October was stunning because of the autumn colors. There really was nothing negative I can think of to say.

We had our wedding here in September 2016. It was truly amazing and everything we wished for. The planning process was very easy and laid back. There was constant contact and we were kept in the loop at every step of the way with staff changes and were made familiar with people that would be part of organising our day. No idea was too big or small and staff would help telling us what was popular and what was not. There was never an issue with popping an email or a call to Madeleine at any time of the day she always got back to us quickly. Everything was open to be tweeked to suit our taste and style. As we were travelling from cork we were able to have a room a week before the wedding to drop off stuff so we weren't overloaded travelling down. This was no problem whatsoever. The day before the wedding we met with Gary the wedding coordinator on our day and he went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure all our things were placed the way we wanted them. If there was any issue Gary dealt with it swiftly without getting us involved and stressed. He was on hand morning to night for any queries. He was absolutely fantastic. The food and service was spectacular and nobody went hungry that's for sure. There was a constant supply of drinks and canapés during the reception. There was plenty of food during the meal for people to have seconds if they wished and this was not a problem. All waiting staff were very friendly and helpful to all our guests. The bar staff we very efficient and nobody was kept waiting. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough it really is what dreams are made of.

I can't recommend the Malton enough. Emer the wedding coordinator is absolutely outstanding. She was always so helpful and accomodating with any request or query we had. She gave us invaluable help and advice in planning the reception. The decor and ambience in the Malton is beautiful. On the day the quality of food, service and attention to detail was superb. We got such positive feedback from our guests regarding the meal and the service provided by Malton staff. We were extremely happy that we chose the Malton and would highly recommend it.

I found The Malton lived up to all my expectations. It was a pleasure to deal with them thoughout the organizing of my wedding and on the day. The food and service was exceptional. There was no issue too big or too small for them to sort out. We recently returned for our 1st anniversary and really enjoyed our time at the hotel. They made us feel as special as they did on our wedding day!.

From the word go we were hooked. Emer was fabulous and oh so easy to deal with. Everything was explicitly organised. To say that the day was perfect sounds cliché but it was. If something did go wrong it wasn't noticed! Great communication from the word go. We've been back since and have been made just as welcome. They'd lots of suggestions regarding decor, what guests liked, the run of the day but also listened to ours and took in everything we said. We still have guests comment on the Malton and have even have friends book it as their venue. I'll be recommending the Malton as a venue for years to come. Please check it out.

We were thrilled with our wedding reception at the Malton hotel in November 2015. From the beginning the wedding planner and all staff were so helpful-they were so accommodating when we wanted to arrange our own table centrepieces. The entrance to the hotel was so impressive and was a lovely setting for our guests! The food was amazing, we had a big wedding with 260 guests and everyone was delighted with their meals. The honeymoon suite was amazing and we loved meeting all our family and friends the next day! We would have loved to have had good weather to enjoy the drinks reception outside but as it was the end of November the hotel had the Christmas decorations up which made a very cosy atmosphere. We really enjoyed every second of our wedding at the Malton.

The Malton was an easy choice for us for our wedding. Right from the beginning when we went to view the hotel we knew it was the place for us. We had the most amazing wedding day. From the beautiful hotel to the fabulous food and friendliness of the staff, it is hard to express how wonderful the day was. Everything was first class. Our guest were so impressed too and they still talk about today. What makes the hotel stand out from the rest is the exceptional staff who are second to none. They work tirelessly and attentively all day to make it a special day for the bride and groom and guests. We could not recommend the Malton highly enough. They make it a day to remember x
