6 Stylish Ways the Groom Can Stand Out

The Groom

It’s obvious who the bride is at a wedding but for the lads, a sea of suits can make it hard for them to stand out from their groomsmen. For stylish grooms, it’s all about the finer details – the little things that sets them apart whether it’s a different colour tie or buttonhole, a shirt oozing with personality or completely mixing it up and going for a different suit entirely. Lads are having way more fun with their formal wear and making sure they make their mark on the Big Day too – check out some simple but stylish ways for grooms to stand out from the crowd below….

1. Opt for a Different Suit

If you’re looking to make a statement with your wedding wear and don something that reflects your style and personality, opt for a suit in a different cut, style, colour or fabric to your groomsmen. Tweeds, bright blue and burgundy suits are all the rage at the minute or you could create a dynamic look by pairing a sharp navy or grey suit with a waistcoat in the same colour as the groomsmen. Check out the trends we’re loving for grooms and where you can shop them here!

2. Wear a Bow Tie

Let your lads wear a tie or bow tie and you wear the opposite! If you wear a tie most days or whenever you’re getting spruced up, it can be nice to go all out with a bow tie for the big occasion.

3. Go for a Different Colour Tie or Bow Tie

If you’re not a bow tie kind of guy, one way to stand out from the other lads is with a different colour tie. Let the best man and groomsmen wear one colour and wear a completely different colour yourself (or ivory/white to match the bride). Same goes for the pocket square – opt for something different to the groomsmen to make a bit of a style statement.

4. Wear a Waistcoat

Another dapper way to set yourself apart is with a waistcoat – if you’re keen to have all the guys in them, opt for a different colour for yourself. Or the groomsmen could go without a waistcoat and you could rock one all by yourself.

5. Embrace the Little Details

Another simple but effective way to say ‘I’m the groom’ is with your buttonhole or accessories. Let the groomsmen wear a buttonhole in one colour and stand out by wearing something unique or in white to match the bride (check out some brilliant boutonnière ideas here). Or if you fancy some dapper accessories, don a pocket watch or some braces that will set you apart.

6. Go for a Patterned Shirt

If you like your shirts, this could be an awesome way to stand out from the lads and let your personality and style shine through. Kit the other lads out in plain white and wear something fun and patterned yourself!
