A Bright Summer Wedding With Lots of Pastel Colours

Meet Nicole and Ian, a beautiful couple who got married in summer. To complement the warm weather, they incorporated lots of pastel colours into the festivities!

Couple: Nicole and Ian
Engagement length: Almost two years
Wedding date: 2022-06-03
Wedding location: The Avalon House Hotel
Photographer: Weddings at John Delaney

Nicole and Ian met at a dance show. Nicole is a dancer and her family owns a dance school in Kilkenny. She was performing in a show and Ian was working backstage.

Their engagement story is incredibly romantic and best told from Nicole’s perspective:

“We had a dinner booked for our favourite restaurant. It was the 19th of September and I was totally thrown off guard because we were away the week before and I was convinced he was going to do it then but didn’t. He did it at home, our whole sitting room was all decorated with loads of rose petals and candles, my favourite chocolates and got down on one knee and asked me. I was so shocked I didn’t even answer him. We went on to have the best celebrations that night and we were thrilled.”

They loved everything about their wedding. The colours were very pastel and the bridesmaids wore sage green dresses to complement the summer vibe. They chose lots of light colours for the summer!

Ian’s suit was a very light grey with a dark brown waistcoat and dicky bow, with flowers.

Nicole’s dress was slightly puffy but very choppy. She says, “It was so stunning, but not something I ever would have seen myself in, but the minute I tried it on I knew it was the one.”

The groomsmen wore the same as Ian except instead of a waistcoat they wore dark brown braces to have Ian slightly different. The bridesmaids wore a sage green slinky silk dress with small straps and a slit up one leg. They were ballet length so it was perfect for the summer.

“Our ceremony was brilliant! The priest we had was so funny and made us feel very at ease, and it was nice and quick just like we wanted.”

“Our venue was absolutely beautiful. It’s so so stunning, very homely vibe, but so classy and the food was something else.”

Their wedding photographer, John Delaney, beautifully captured all their special moments.

“I knew I wanted him before I was ever engaged. He did most of my family members’ weddings and his work is just something that can’t be beaten! Unbelievable.”

“I actually didn’t have a videographer because I was like ‘No I’m too nervous about the church’ and didn’t want to watch it back. Honestly now my wedding was the best day but if I had it back I would have a videographer, it’s the only regret I have.”

“Our band was phenomenal. I have never witnessed a band like them. They were so interactive with the crowd and had everyone just on their feet loving life and the floor was never empty.”

They have lots of beautiful memories of the day, but here’s Nicole’s favourite:

“My favourite would be when I finally married Ian after all the church and pictures. We spent a few minutes together before heading into the ballroom to all the guests just us two, finishing our champagne and catching up on the day so far. I would tell everyone to spend that down time with their new husband/wife because it’s a very busy and overwhelming day and it was so special.”
