A Vintage Wedding With Dusty Pink, Mauve and Greenery

Say hello to Emily and David! They planned a gorgeous wedding with a vintage theme. We love the tones of dusty pink and mauve mixed with greenery. They fell in love with their wedding venue, The Garryvoe Hotel, and guests had a blast walking across the road to enjoy the beach after dinner.

Emily and David met at a house party 9 years ago! In June 2021, they went to visit Gougane Barra. They were in the middle of a nature walk and were at the lake viewpoint, when Emily thought to herself “this would be a lovely place to get engaged”. The rest of the story from her perspective is super romantic:

“David called my name and said ‘Emily will you marry me?’ I was so shocked I started saying no several times, don’t ask me why haha. Then I said ask again and I said a big fat YES! He really is the perfect person for me, I couldn’t have asked for a better setting for this magical moment.”

They really wanted a vintage theme with dusty pink, mauve colours and greenery around the decor. The bridesmaids wore mauve dresses and the guys wore navy suits, which complemented one another. Emily’s bouquet is one she chose as soon as the got engaged and she couldn’t be happier with it! The colours were exactly how she envisioned it.

Emily describes her wedding dress as “the dress of my dreams”.

“I wanted a vintage styles dress with lots of lace with a champagne undertone. My dress had long sleeves with elegant lace detail all over, it was a mermaid style dress. The sample size fit like a glove so it was just meant to be. I felt amazing in it. It was the perfect fit and style for me.  I didn’t want to take it off at all, it was so comfortable too and I could dance around in it too which was ideal! I wore it for the whole day and night.”

They wanted everybody to feel comfortable, so the wedding party wore a mix of floral dresses, midi body con and silk dresses, with navy and grey suits. The mix of styles and colours fit together perfectly.

Their celebrant, Carol, asked lots of questions before the ceremony so she could add a personal piece about how Emily and David met and got engaged. This element of their ceremony made everything feel so much more special. Emily says, “It was so us, so personal and utterly made the day even more memorable!”

“We had our wedding in Garryvoe Hotel in West Cork. It was the first venue we looked at it and honestly nothing else compared to it. The staff went above and beyond making our day extra special. The venue was set across the road from the beach which made for the most romantic and beautiful photos. All the guests went down for a walk on the beach after dinner and some even went for a morning swim. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable.”

Their Big Day was beautifully captured by Lisa Chonier!

“I cannot compliment our photographer enough. She really listened to the moments we wanted captured and even got our little nephew to smile for the photos. She captured so many special candid moments that I will treasure forever. I still look back at the pictures every chance I get beaches they are that beautiful! I couldn’t get over how amazing the couple photos turned out, they really captured the pure joy and love we had in those moments. Looking at those pictures feels like we are reliving the moment as if we were there.”

Emily’s favourite moment from the wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing David’s face.

“I instantly felt at ease and knew this would be the happiest day of our lives.”

We love asking newlyweds for their wedding planning advice! Here’s what Emily and David had to say:

“Book everything well in advance, you will be surprised how fast vendors and services book up! Most of all, take in all those special moments and make sure you make time for your new husband/wife on the day to soak it all in.”
