We were completely enchanted by Maggie and Neal’s super cool and laid back wedding this week (shot by Karina Finegan Photography), so much so that we’ve decided to do a little piece on how to steal their style. Their wedding, in case you missed it, was held in the stylish and exclusive setting of Bellinter House Hotel in Wicklow, where they treated guests to an intimate outdoor ceremony on the lawn, before heading to the bright and beautiful marquee for dinner and dancing. The couple’s almost Edwardian attire set the tone, while the bridesmaids created an informal and fun atmosphere in mix n match summer dresses. So if you’re looking for tips on how to pull off a romantic, relaxed, sunny and stylish big day this summer, read on!
The Five AA Red Star, K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare is a fairytale venue for a dream wedding. Set on the banks of the River Liffey the country house hotel is surrounded by 550 acres of mature woods, parkland and magnificent formal gardens. Dating back to 1832 the house has been beautifully restored over the years and boasts magnificent stucco ceilings, chandeliers and original art work. But for all its glory and elegance, the house retains a sense of relaxed ease. Open fires warm the elegant rooms, filled with comfortable couches and occasional arm chairs, art work by Irish and international artists fill the walls and every where you go there is something to catch the eye and delight the senses.

We missed you last week while we were out sipping Champagne with the Top Wedding Suppliers and peeps from the Top Wedding Venues in the Country at the annual WeddingsOnline.ie Awards (it’s a tough job!) but we’re back with our dose of real weddings again and we promise, this one was worth the wait! Maggie and Neal threw an incredible, fun day for their guests in Bellinter House, while still managing to bring the romance with their intimate outdoor wedding ceremony. From Maggie’s lace Edwardian style Maria Luisa Rabell dress to the couple’s choice of entertainment – the floor filling 80’s band Spring Break – this was far from your conventional wedding. Captured by Karina Finegan, the couple look relaxed and in love while enjoying the gorgeous sun and free reign of the grounds. Cuteness.

Like most ladies and gents, I love nothing better than a relaxing romantic weekend away. And like those same ladies and gents these occasions don’t happen as frequently as one would hope! So, when an invite came into the WeddingsOnline.ie office for the Soirée de Marriage at Lisloughrey Lodge just before Christmas, I jumped at the chance to go (luckily for me most of my colleagues have children and can’t run off to the West Coast of Ireland, so I didn’t have to jump too high!)
Whether it’s spelled out in Percy Pigs, whispered on the banks of the Seine or uttered over a sausage egg and chip dinner, every girl remembers the moment the question ‘Will you Marry Me?’ is asked of her. This Valentine’s Day we’ve decided to take a look back at how our past groom’s proposed to their blushing brides with a few of our favourite engagement stories…

Real Wedding – Continuing with our ‘romance’ theme for Valentine’s week, today we’re featuring a very dreamy, VERY romantic real wedding on the serene and secluded Island of Lusty Beg, Fermanagh. Peter Doherty and Emma Mc Cafferty tied the (sailor’s) knot in July last year, in a very elegant, chic and intimate wedding in St. Columba’s Church – “arguably the most beautiful chapel in Derry”. Colour-wise, they went for a deep and sophisticated slate grey for the bridesmaids’ dresses, which carried through to many of the decor and details throughout the day. Their beautiful photo album by Yez Lifestyle Photography is a stunning mix of portrait and landscape with idyllic lake views, tranquil and romantic…
Valentine’s Week! Well, it’s officially the week of lurve, and we’re coming over a bit nostalgic and sentimental (because this is a wedding website, so we’re allowed to!). Today we’re looking back over some of the amazing real weddings we’ve featured over the last few months, and are highlighting how these couples first came to be. So sit back and have an ol’ nosey, then if you’re feeling up to it, let us know how you met your OH by leaving a comment below!
Real Wedding – While the boys took a trip to a very stylish barbers for a morning pampering session (a hot towel shave and some champers), the girls stayed at home dancing around the kitchen to Mumford & Sons, and so set the tone of the day! After a very romantic porposal on top of the Empire State Building, Eimear and David set about creating their vision of a perfect day. Eimear added plenty of DIY details including a beauiful cake table, a guestbook table dotted with old photos of family weddings and, our favourite, her gran’s old bicycle! All this was set against the stunning backdrop of the always chic Clonabreany House. However nothing could take away from the beauty of Eimear and David themselves, whose huge smiles and sparkling eyes lit up every room, and every photo captured by Julie Cummins.
