Wedding Day Essentials Couples Often Forget (But You Don’t Have To)

Planning & Advice

With so many wedding planning decisions to make, it’s no surprise that couples often forget a few things. But you don’t have to! Here’s our nifty list of wedding day essentials you may not have thought of as the day draws closer…

Confetti

Some of the most beautiful and spontaneous wedding photos take place as the Bride and Groom exit the ceremony and they are showered with confetti. This is meant to be more than just a fun moment for the guests. The origin of the confetti tradition actually comes all the way from Italy, when throwing confetti symbolised fertility and prosperity.

If we’re honest, we’ll admit that confetti often gets forgotten in the planning. Sometimes it’s even intentionally overlooked and thought of as old-fashioned. But we’re here to tell you that confetti is BACK! It’s a lovely way to add a pop of colour, create a spontaneous and beautiful photo moment, and give your guests a reason to smile (as if they’ll need a reason!).

You can totally achieve the desired ‘confetti effect’ without confetti. Want to know how? Well, go on and have a look at these fabulously fun confetti alternatives!

Wedding Emergency Kit

Bridesmaids, this one is for you! You’ll probably find that there’s at least one of you in the group who likes to be prepared for anything. You know the one. She’s always got a breath mint or spare hair tie in her bag. Well, now’s your time to shine. The wedding day is the best time to whip out your skills and prepare ahead of time. One way to look after your bestie on her Big Day is to have a wedding emergency kit filled with all the essentials.

We’re talking about anything the bride or bridesmaids might need on the day. Things like hair ties, painkillers, wet wipes and plasters. You never know what might happen so it’s best to be prepared. We’ve created a wedding emergency kit packing list so you know exactly what to include! There are a number of items on the list and we don’t expect you to pack each and every one of them. Look at each category and choose what you think you’ll need and pack those items. You’ll thank us later.

Preparing Your Shoes

If you’ve ever spent the night in a new pair of heels, you’ll understand the pain they can cause. Just because you’re getting married, doesn’t mean everything will fit you perfect, especially your wedding shoes.

Considering you’ll be wearing your wedding shoes for the entire day, you want them to feel good. Your Big Day is going to be such an important and busy day that the last thing you should be thinking about is sore feet.

Guest Book

Your wedding guest book is one of the pieces you’ll look back on and read, laugh over and cherish once the Big Day has been and gone so it’s worth putting some time in to finding one you love. The term ‘guest book’ can apply to more than just the traditional paper variety – creative couples are using all sorts of fun items as a guest book to bring out their personality, from Jenga pieces to pebbles they collected on one of their favourite walks.

Another popular idea is to use your guest book to celebrate a future milestone. Lots of couples are getting their guests to write wishes, words of wisdom and other funny bits of advice on wine bottles so that they can toast the Big Day on their anniversary and reminisce as they read friends and families pearls of wisdom. Other couples look to double up and use their guest book as a cool keepsake to decorate their apartment or house whether it be a jigsaw they can frame, a globe graffitied by their nearest and dearest that will brighten up the sitting room or some wooden initials inked by all their family and friends that would look amazing propped up on a shelf in the hall. There are so many fun and inspiring ways to get guests to pen their wishes and advice to you!
