Research has shown that the best way to find your dream wedding suppliers is through recommendations. If you are on the hunt for the perfect wedding photographer, take a look at how these couples selected theirs! Some were introduced by family friends, some found their photographer online, and one couple even won their wedding photographer services in a competition!
Why we chose our wedding photographer
They are simply the best! We first did an engagement shoot with Mark and Fiona and the photos were so amazing and romantic. Bruce is not a big fan of the camera and Mark and Fiona made him feel so at ease. We were thrilled they did our wedding. There was no one else we wanted! We booked The Fennell’s for both photo and video. They were such good craic on the day too, all my family and friends commented on how lovely they were and how they didn’t even realise they were taking photos – they’re like photo ninjas! I have to say too that in the planning leading up to the wedding Mark and Fiona were so great with tips and advice, especially on timings of the day – they have years of experience behind them and know what works well, we were so grateful for their help because we didn’t have a clue! And the photos! – oh my gosh – I’m literally trying to find the words! They captured everything so well, so beautifully, even the ‘in the moment’ shots – they were out of this world. Stunning. I cried when I saw them! The quality of them. We were blown away and cannot recommend them highly enough. We have these photos, and video, to treasure our special day forever. We are so grateful.
I stumbled across David’s work by chance during an online search. I then saw he was listed on weddings
online and arranged a meeting with him. We knew as soon as we met him, we would feel comfortable with him photographing our special day. I adore hanging and displaying photos in our home and once I saw samples of David’s work I trusted that he would be able to follow our brief. He was so discreet on the day but also lots of fun and felt like part of our family. So many of our guests and all of our families commented on how friendly and at ease he was. We have the perfect relaxed photos of our day with a few of the traditional family portraits too. We loved our engagement shoot with David too in the Botanic Gardens. It was a fab way to get to know one another and once I saw those photos I had even more confidence in him. Our package included 3 albums and they are all unique and treasured.
Our aunt originally found David. She sent us his contact information and we reached out. He shared with us some of his previous work and we instantly fell in love. He was very kind and supportive. David took the time to meet up with us when we arrived in Ireland. He met us at our aunt’s to look at where we would have the reception and then we travelled to the Black Castle together to look at the location for the ceremony. He helped us decide the best place to have the ceremony and where we could do photos following. He took time to get to know us and even to get to know our family and friends on the day of. He was very personable and professional. David is very genuine. We are thrilled with the return photos we received. He captures all of the best moments of our special day. We could not be more thankful to have had such an incredible photographer.
We wanted someone fun, easy to get on with and someone who wasn’t going to make us pose throughout the day for staged looking photos. We met up with Liam after getting a recommendation from a friend. He was an animal lover which immediately won us over. We had an engagement shoot and we were both thrilled with the photos he took so it was a no brainer to have him on the day. We laughed and joked through the whole day and he made a special effort to get our dog Bailey into some pictures with us.
Emily entered a competition and won! Keith was absolutely brilliant. We are so happy with the photos and he was brilliant with our dog…he is a dog whisperer! He is also a landscape photographer which really shows in the photos. They are so green and so well framed! We are both big outdoorsy people so it was a match made in heaven!
Darren made us feel at ease from our first phone call. We wanted a relaxed unobtrusive person but someone who could also crack the whip when needed and he did both in a professional manner. We had a lot of guests ask us who he was and commented on how brilliant he was at fitting in with the crowd. We have so many amazing shots but one in particular that stands out is of my Uncle Lou hugging me after our wedding ceremony. He passed away suddenly in February and that picture is so precious to me now. Our videographer was Julianna O’Shea who at the time worked with Darren but has now gone out on her own. Our video came out brilliantly, so delighted we got it and we loved seeing bits of the wedding that we weren’t around for.
Honestly – how could you not choose Laura and Benny! These guys are the dream team and from the minute we met them at a Wedding Fair in the RDS we realised they have a great dynamic and amazing talent – the photos we saw of previous wedding were incredible. In the lead up to the wedding they were so helpful and when we met them before the wedding we were put at such ease… the questions they even thought of asking made us realise they had us – and we had nothing to worry about.
On the actual wedding day, we had so much fun with them – they were like our friends hanging out with us and having a laugh! That being said they are so professional and will literally do anything to help. For example we were so lucky to have a lovely warm and sunny day and they made sure we were hydrated and refreshed while doing our photos – something we didn’t even think to look for. All our family commented on how fantastic they were and I am not sure how the day would of ran without them. So much so that my sister who is getting married in 18 months has also booked them following our wedding and I can’t wait to hang out with them again! Our photos are everything we could of wanted – they are so unbelievably talented, Thank You so much – Laura and Benny – ye are honestly awesome people and photographers!
Daragh from Stargaze came recommended from a family member and after researching some of his work we knew he was what we were after.
He came highly recommended to us through a friend and once I seen some of the work he had done in the past I was eager to go with him. Himself and Hilary were amazing on the day and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed, the main photo that I had requested was my dad giving me away and I was so happy with how it turned out. I didn’t want any staged photos wanted a very natural feel to them and Ian was happy enough to go along with that. We were so happy with how the photos turned out and they really did capture everything we wanted and much more…
We saw examples of Renata’s work at an open day and it was exactly the style we were looking for. We wanted natural photos, that weren’t posed or staged. I had seen other brides sparkler photographs and Renata was open to any ideas I had, the sparkler photos turned out to be my favourites from the whole day.
A friend recommended Janet Meehan Photography and as soon as we spoke to Janet we knew she was for us, not only are her pictures absolutely amazing but she is the nicest person and so easy to have a laugh with. We had a list of pictures we wanted and people we wanted pictures with and Janet made sure she got every single picture and had some amazing ideas. I also wanted a group picture shaped in a heart which we weren’t sure if we would be able to get but Janet stuck with it and I’m delighted we managed to get this shot. We received a few sneak peek pictures from Janet while on honeymoon which was lovely. We arrived home from honeymoon and Janet hand delivered the pictures 2 days later, this was such a treat as the after wedding blues had just kicked in.
